Decisions, decisions, decisions

I've been wanting to build a new computer for some time now. I usually build AMD CPU platform due to cost and performance VS Intel. I have been looking at Sabertooth and ASUS crosshair formula 4 but the crosshair formula 5 is out now.

Now I'm hearing about PCIe 3.0 but only true on Gig Mobo's. I'm tired of waiting on bulldozer to come out IF it ever comes out.

Can you guys and gals give me some suggestions please...TY

I use the the Sabertooth 990FX and it's a monster!

As for PCI 3.0 don't worry about it, we haven't even maxed out 2.0, it's just a selling gimmick as of right now and for the next 2 years.

Only the Sniper 2 from Gigabyte has native PCIe 3.0.

Ok, so you are tired of waiting... than I can immagine that what you want to hear, is what I would choose on this moment.. correct?

Firs of, and this is a stupid awnser, I would keep waiting for a while. Becouse very soon new platforms arrive, and you never know what prices are going to do at that point. Worst case is that if you buy a new rig now, in two months its worth 2/3rd the money you paid for...

But if I would build myself a rig now, I would definitly go for socket 1155 from intel. You just can't go wrong couse it is superiour to all the other options at this moment. Last week I build a cheap i3 2100 rig for 300 pounds and it was stunning...

And indeed, don't wory about PCIe 3.0... it is just to soon for that. It is, like KING-OF-SAND said, a selling gimmick...

Cheers

quality > quantity

Intel > AMD

Not to divert my original post but...

That is purely opinion...in my opinion Lol. I should have been more clear in my post...what I implied was bang for the buck but the others got it. I will not spend more on the CPU than what it cost to build a high end computer. I dont see intel being better so they can charge 2-3 times what it should be. That being said if intel prices were more realistic and in comparison with AMD prices I would use Intel over AMD every time, as I'm sure a great number of other people would.

I dont care about bragging rights "mine cost more than yours so it's automatically the best" but thats just me. Of course I'm talking about equivalent AMD CPU VS Intel CPU..."apples to apples"

Just imo AMD can't beat sandy bridge at the moment

One being faster than another has nothing to do with quality. I have a motherboard from intel that's about 8 years old and no were near as fast as todays, but the quality stacks up to any motherboard in the $300 range today.
