decent gpu for folding

hey guys,

Some of you may know that im getting parts together for a dedicated folding rig, I pretty much have most the bits apart from a gpu, im not looking to spend much at the moment, I have about £30 in my paypal atm but don't know what that can get me so I need your help on this. Which card would be suitable at this moment in time, later on the year, hopefully I can get something better then

If you want something cheap, a 8800GT will get about 5,500 PPD.

Edit:

And 8800GTs are happy folding on GPU3 so when GPU2 becomes dicontinued you will still be able to fold on it!

Also don't forget 9800GT is the exact same card as the 8800GT

If you can grab a 9800 series card (ideally a GTX or a GTX+) then I'd do that.

I searched around and saw a few but they slightly out of my budget, will continue looking for them you never know there may be a bargain waiting

An 8800GTS(512MB only) is the same thing, as is a 250GTS, if that helps.

Saw 3 8800gtxs on ebay for i thinks £90ish, how good are they? Wish i could afford em

from now i will not sell a gpu i buy, would come i great use at times like these

For Folding, I'd pick the GTS as it'll be the G92 core.

Nice find mate, I would take the G92 right now but due a banned ebay i can't

Might also pop down to my local CEX shop, sometime they have bargains on old Gpu's

Basicly, if it's a 8800 card, unless it has 512mb or 1gb of RAM. Avoid for folding.
