DDR3 on its way in 2007

Well it seems that Intel have pushed back DDR3 for their platforms: prefferring a ramp-up in speed for DDR2.

DDR3 will be the new memory technology for the platforms of the future, but that isn't going to start arriving until the very end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007. However, when it does arrive it's going to scale up to 1600MHz.

Before that happens, we will start to see the introduction of Fully Buffered DIMMs, memory sticks that use a new interconnect which Intel thinks is going to help push performance to the next level, especially in more business oriented platforms.

SO looks like only graphics cards will be seeing the fast DDR3 for the time being, wonder if AMD feels the same?

Anyhoo - DDR2 high-speed standard of 800MHz sounds ok to me ;)

This would be a perfect opportunity for AMD to step back and incorporate DDR3 into the new socket platform for next year. This would definately give them a 1337 advantage over Intel.

it's true but ddr3 would cost alot of money and people wouldn't like the idea of buying such a costy ram ;)

The performance would more than make up for the increased price IMHO.
