Data Recovery

I'm trying to recover whatever data is possible from a Fujitsu 250gb 2.5" and so far I had no success at all. I've tried Recuva which doesn't even start and two others that don't find the drive at all.
I know the drive has 4 partitions, 1 recovery, 1 system reserved and 1 OS, 1 storage. I can see all 4 in Computer but I can only access the OS and recovery partition, but I can't copy anything from them, says file/folders are corrupted.
Any tricks I could use? or does it sound like it's completely dead?

I've used DiskGenius in the past where Recuva has failed. You mentioned using two other recovery programs, but I'm assuming you haven't tried DiskGenius?

Have you tried scanning the drive for errors with something like HDSentinel or HDTune? There may be certain errors that are causing the recovery programs to fail. It may be possible to fix some of the errors and enable you to at least start the recovery process.

I haven't tried disk genius, but I've went and booted the repair disk and tried to access the drive from the command prompt and I don't get a response back, chkdsk hangs too.

Hmmm. In that case the data may be unrecoverable via traditional means. Instead of booting up repair disk, you could try fixing any errors from within the Windows environment. If that doesn't work, you may need to consult a professional.

One other suggestion I have is to use FTK (Forensic Toolkit). But, as the other recovery programs you have tried have failed, it's not likely that it will work. It's more to cover all your bases and confirm that it is the drive that is at fault.

I'll give disk genius and ftk a try and see what happens.
Update: sadly the drive died and no longer shows up even in bios.

I've thought about that but the information wasn't that important to spend any money on it so I tried free versions of programs and then threw the hdd in the dead hardware box .

i know it sounds stupid but in your disk management is it still showing up? cos ive had a partition disappear on me before and had to reassign a address for it well a name anyway

sounds like you may have to send it to a hard drive recovery specialist, however they will probably charge you an arm and a leg and then some

the things i would try (which you may have already) would be to run a "bad sector" test which you can do in HDTune. If the partition isn't showing, then run "Partition Find and Mount", you might get some luck there

I guess it comes down to if the value of the data is precious, for example, photos of family etc., you are going to be more inclined to go with a Data Recovery firm. It might be pricey, but you would be paying for a professional service I guess.

Guys I don't mean to be rude or something but please read the thread, I've already tried all there is beside sending it to a professional since the info on it is not worth it and I've binned the drive.
