Crazy Fan Controller Idea

Hello OC3D,
I had an idea for the built in fan controller on my 650D. Maybe not crazy, but I needed your attention :) Currently even on the lowest setting, my Spectre Pros are just a little too loud for my liking, and I'd like to slow them down even more. I think the stock fan controller runs fans at 12V, 9V, and 7V respectively, but those settings I think are too intense for me. So here's the idea. What if I rewired the molex power connector for the fan controller to get 7V? That way the idea is the settings would be like 7V, 5V, and 3V respectively. I'm willing to sacrifice a degree or two for silence, I'm just not sure if this is the best idea to do that. If you think this will work or have any other ideas on how I can quiet down my PC, let me know!

there are lot of fans out there that will not even start up with 5 volts. I say you try it and see if it works. test it outside of the system if you can just in case.

OK yeah I think I'll give it a go. I don't want to spin the fans any slower though, afraid I won't get any air. Trying to think of other ideas to reduce noise... Got any?

like SEBAR said, most don't even kick till 4.7-5.2v. but..... won't hurt to wire the molex
to 7v (red/yellow on outside of molex connector) and try or drop a 2v drop to current
settings using resistor(s)..
