Gonna see how I get on with this set-up on max clocks and then try for 3 disks in Raid 0 - maybe 4?

More to follow, currently playing with stability and other bios settings which is proving to trial and error as there are a lot of thing to play with..... gotta love being able to save your overclock settings in the BIOS :)

mav, i think you posted the wrong image, it showing 1704

I see you spotted my deliberate mistake :$ I think it was 1794 anyway - when this run has finished I will edit the post as is appropriate - struggling to make 4375mhz, but slowly squeezing the mhz out.

I think 3 or 4 disk raid is what will be required to break 2000pts though.

More to follow

I think the quad limit fsb on this is 470mhz (at x9) - more testing tomorrow and maybe a search for some mods.

Oh and it looks like I picked me a up a sasser virus too :( maybe re-install required, not sure yet, removal tool time tomorrow.

RAM ran at 1900mhz 7-7-7-18 2.2v ;)

1900mhz seems to be the limit on the 266mhz strap - dropped the multiplier and cpu is scaling again - more to follow.

I think its a great little chipset with lots of options to help you realise the full potential of your clocks - maybe still requires some mods to maximise extreme clocking but this board and the DDR3 are working very very well.

The best motherboard for Intel chips that I have used since the halcyon days of 875 - just need the 9800's to come out so we can clean up :)

on form mav is one of the reasons i started to come here

welcome back

:$ It's very kind of anyone to say summit like that - thank you.

You know I wish I could spend more time (and money) doing things like this - I have kept hold of benching parts to have a return every now and again, so much to learn when you have not had a go for a while.

But I like to use my PC to play the odd game and family life mens that I have to make a decision to game or bench, don't have time to do both. Which is why my benching antics are selective for when I have new stuff, which due to the forementioned, is not as often as I would like due to resources (cash).

I probably do not need to tell you that sessions like this are pleasing, as you know that the components you are working with are up to the test, trial and error with some succes in between makes it good - unlike last weeks efforts which were in the end fruitless.

Cheers

Nice going Mav :41:

Me goes down to 6th again, bugger :p

Thanks - and soz at the same time :$

Ram runs stable at 7-7-7-18 @ 1850mhz, but I cant find the right strap/balance to get the cpu to maximise its overlock and get the ram to do same.

So I have to settle for 1650mhz @ 6-6-6-18 and run cpu at 4395mhz.

I convinved that a fully modded board would allow to be run both at their maximum - this sounds like a job for persivore ;)

Edit - cracked 1800pts now :)

Nice going Mav there's more in that set up

Thanks MrD,

I think you are right - somehow need to unlock the full potential - any pointers would be appreciated.

As it stands - two hitachi deskstars in Raid 0 64k stripe and one of the same drive as a boot disk (non raid).

Some other combos to try now

SATA drive boot disk and 3x hitachis in Raid 0 and just plain old 3x hitachis in RAID 0, if push comes to shove I can take another Hitchi out my current rig giving 4 disks to set-up in Raid 0.

Time is running out though (missus says so).

Cheers

Mav

PS: Crept up to No2 past VADIM ;)

Well I think I maxxed out teh set-up and cracked 1892 pts - still a way behind dizzy but am pretty pleased with the overall result.

The memory dividers do not allow both max CPU clock and ram, trying both I found that the cpu clock being higher was slightly better than the ram being higher (due to cpu running 200mhz slower to enable 1865mhz on ram).

Next test will be with a 4GB I-Ram which I will probably use to run the CPC benchies from. Although if anyone has any 2gb stixks of DDR1 lying around I'd love to borrow them for this trial - or in fact if anyone has a 2nd I-Ram I could always RAID a set up for 8GB goodness.

Gonne play with some 3d for a laugh and post scores up here - then back to wprime for the good of the team.

Cheers
