hi folks me again, friend of mine is about to ditch his old corsair xms pc3500, the BH5 stuff, and he's gonna give it to client, anyway he offered me a straight swap for his 1gb of 3500 for my pc4000 pro stuff and i was wondering if this is gonna be a good deal, i think yes because its the old bh5 stuff which we all know is brilliant and it can easily do 250fsb at 2-2-2-5 whereas my 4000 stuff cant reach low latency at 200fsb, plus his client will like it more because he's got her an acrylic case and hte led's on the ram will make it look good.

anyway please respoind soon guys gotta give him an awnser. ta.

The question I'd like an answer to - does BH5 have a shelf life as such? I've heard horror stories where BH5 tends to diminish over time, especially if its been fed 3.5v + constantly. I dont know if this is true however, but its not the first time I have heard it. If this is the case, would you still go for the BH5?

It's all down to cooling - introduce a silent 120mm fan over the dimms and they cool down nicely, without cooling they hover aorund the 50 degree mark which would shorten the life to an undesired level.

I would go BH5 every time, although the extra bandwidth of PC5000 TCC5 comes closest performance wise - shame I can get 323Mhz out of my DFI, which appears to be BH5 tuned ;)

wel i don't have any nice 120mm fans free for that sort of cooling, the 35mil thick ones are too heavy to jerry rig over the ram, but i do have a single 92mm nexus fan which i intend to place over the ram using the old motherboard riser trick, just gotta figure out how to get a fan over the mosfet now.

i was talking to my friend the other day about hte swap im going to be doing and he was adament that i shouldnt do it, saying that the xms4000 pro modules had samsung tccd chips in them. of course ive chosen to compltly ignore him and go for teh bh5 stuff but is it true that these things are infact tccd? because i didnt think they were.
