Corsair HX750 fan problem?

This is my first post so hi everyone :). I recently purchased a shiny new HX750 for christmas and think there is a problem with the fan. The fan does not spin until it hits around 300W (although according to the box it should start to spin up slowly before this load). When it does start to spin it sounds quite loud and "sometimes" slows down a bit. After around an hour or so of gaming it is very audible and actually quite a lot louder than my old Coolermaster GX650W which was quite loud! lol. It should be getting plenty of air so no problem there. Any thoughts?

depending on version, the fan shouldn't be operational until 150-175watts. it'll
spin up on startup, but should return to zero on low loads. at about 400-450watts
it'll be in the 20-25DBa range to be 60% load. now the other factor is temperature
sensor may be feeling the heat and cranking up some air-flow. i'd get in touch
with Corsair Customer Service and drop them a line on your "fan issue" and see
if that is a normal attribute. i know the GS-series had a lot of fan complaints of
surging and seeking fan RPM issues.
yeah, look to Corsair.

all my HX-series don't support fanless as they are the earlier editions (silver rated)

Looks to be the way the latest generation of PSUs are designed so I'm going to try and get a refund instead of RMAing it as it won't help. Thanks for the reply.
