Corsair 650D 200mm fans

Hi all,
I am thinking about getting the 650d , and want some opinions on the stock 200mm fans in the front and top. Are they fairly quiet and push enough air ? I was going to start my build using the Noctua NH-D14 , then maybe go for a closed loop cooler. Will any other fan or fans fit in the front without totally removing both drive bays?
Any opinions are appreciated , thanks in advance.

the stock fans are full speed are not really very quite, but they do make a sort of 'wooshing' noise like air moving through a closed tunnel i guess, which is fairly nice sound i guess, better than ticking or buzzing or rattling anyway. i use a fan controller and turn it down to about 400rpm and it still moves plenty of air and its quiet at that point.

you can put a 200 in the top or 2X 120s so you replace the top fan with better quality fans if you want or fit a h100 etc.

if you are using a nh-d14 you will have no trouble with the cpu temps because it is incredible even with the fans on low, you barely even have to have case fans on with a d14 unless you are running something like prime 95 (or something that uses 100% and something like furmark that uses 100% of the graphics card, that is about the only time when the case may get a little warm and you may want to notch up the case fans a bit to move the warm air out.

with a nh-d14 on the cpu and a decent modern graphics card with a good cooler on it (pretty much any current generation graphics card) during normal use like games or anything even lighter weigh that that you can pretty much have it set up to be near silent and have very low temperatures.

the 7900 cards from amd idle at around 30c to 35c and the same goes for the 3770k with the d14 so you will have no temperature issues with that setup.

if you arent doing carzy overclocks you can keep the case fans very very low if not completely off or any combination of some low some off etc and have no issues with temperatures.

have fun with your new build and be sure to make a build log and take plenty of pictures

Thank You for the reply andrevautour,
I appreciate the feedback on the stock fans , I decided to replace all the case fans .
I'm thinking about a CoolerMaster 200mm blue in the front ( intake of course ), a Corsair AF 120mm high performance in the rear of the case with a filter ( intake , I think ), and a Corsair H100i with 2 corsair SP quiet edition fans in the roof ( exhaust ). Let me know what you think of this setup.

I'm going with a black and blue theme.
I have the case , a corsair ax760i psu , and a EVGA gtx 670 ftw so far , and I have a shopping cart on newegg for the rest. I'm just waiting and thinking they might have a sale around the first of the year.

One thing to take note of with the front intake fan is that part of what makes the noise is actually that mesh for the front fan that you see when you remove the dust filter. it is round pattern with quite a lot of metal meterial in between, not like the usual hex mesh like on the roof, so the front creates quiet a bit of turbulence noise whici is muffled a bit when you put the fan filter on , but its still noticable. even with a replacement fan i would say still say maybe run it at a lower speed just to keep things quiet. as far as the cooler master fans if you're talking about their LED fans the kind that come with cooler master cases then i doubt those will be any better quality than the ones that come with th e corsair case, usually fans that come wi thcases are sleeve bearing so the quality is fairly similar. i would only suggest replacing the front fan if you like the look of the CM one better.

one thing to keep in mind is that they say you need a low profile 200mm fan for the front (25mm) the normal 200mm fans are 30mm so they will be really close to the hard drive bays and may not fit.

personally i wish they had proper mounts for 1 or 2 120mm fans at the front in addition to a 200mm option lke some other cases do. the mesh in the front is spaced in such a way that you can screw a 120mm fan into it, but it just wont be "the proper way" it is possible though.

as far as the new corsair I stuff i dont have enough knowledge about them to make an informed decision. All I will say is that they are not using seasonic anymore and the only reason i bought an ax850 for myself is because those were the seasonic units on the inside. the digital link thing is also unappealing to me personally just because its so large.

670 ftw definitely a good card. I wouldnt buy a reference 670 just because of the placement of the power headers but the FTW has the proer 680 size pcb so its no problem they also come with borderlands 2 at the moment so thats nice.

h100 again i dont have enough knowledge about it yet either to give an opinion so far i've heard mixed reviews about it. i will say that i did not like the original h100 because of the pump noise . I have heard some people say the h100i pump is quiet but its hard to really know because some people's version of quiet is a lot different tham mine. i dont really set builds up to be "quiet" i set them up to be "silent" and the nhd14 allows me to do that . definitely dont worry about getting a h100i though if you want one honestly i haven't heard one in real life yet so i can't say.

I've also met plenty of people who are ok with system that are much louder than what my version of silent is so its clear that i am more fussy about noise than a lot of others are/

Thanks for the reply and input,
I'll have to look in to the front fan setup , the case is still in the box( I took it out just to make sure it wasn't damaged and everything looked ok) but I need to look at it closer to plan some.
I'm going to use just 1 hard drive cage and place it by the psu so a thicker fan won't be a problem.
What do you think about the intake and exhaust setup? I'm trying to keep a good positive airflow and exhaust out of the top of the case.
On the h100i , corsair just released a software update that , from what I hear , is supposed to take care of the pump noise. I watched Tom's video on it and it seemed pretty quiet to me. His 1 hour video was pretty in depth and thorough. I think that between Corsair quick link software and the SP fans I should be able to keep it relatively quiet.

Hey Andre , I looked at my case a little closer today and the intake grill for the front 200mm fan is the same grill pattern as the grill on top of the case. So I probably won't have the same noise from the fan as you do , I have the CC650DW-1 case. I think I'm still going to get the Cooler Master Megaflow 200 R4-LUS-GP 200mm blue fan . It's rated at 700 rpm , 110 cfm at 19 dBA . I'll keep you posted when I decide.
I think I will be placing my order at newegg soon .

whoa i've never heard of this before? i guess there is a revision of the case then? would it be too much trouble for you to snap a quick picture of the front grille area just with a cell phone or anything?

that makes me wonder- are your usb 3 ports at the front panel a pass through cable with make usb3 ports on the end or is it a 19 pin usb 3 internal header at the end?

Sure , I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow , I'm not sure how good it will be , and I've never posted pictures on the forum yet. I have a program that I downloaded to resize pictures , but I haven't used it yet. What program do you use and should I take it in 640x480 then resize it?
And yeah , the usb 3 front panel are still past through , no usb 3 header.
I bought one similar to the one you have in your pictures .

i just upload them to flickr and embed them there that way they are not hosting them here and you have no limitations plus i have everything archived there already anyway

you can use photoshop to resize though if you need to or just google how to quickly resize images or something like that. you can also use places like photobucket imgr imgly twit pic anywhere that you can upload pictures then just right click on the image, copy image URL, and in the forum post you're making at the top near your fonts text size etc there is a little image logo and you just lick that and past the image irl there to embed the image into your post

i took a photo of my top mesh and front mesh i will post them in my build log in my next update.

I'll try this

they are not showing up, not sure what the problem is. on flickr there is a cople ways you can do it, one is the click share on top of the photo and copy the bbc code there and pste it into a post here. the other is to right click on the photo, select one of the sizers and then right click on that photo and copy the image location then use the method i mentioned earlier to embed it into a post on here

looks good! interesting to see that it looks like they did change the design! i wouldn't even bother changing the fans in that case unless you want to just for aesthetics. personally i like understated so black is always a safe choice.

i still would like to see mounting holes for at least 1 or 2 120mm fans like a lot of cases have and like it has in the roof. that way i could more easily fit a couple high end noctua fans in the front and have all good fans which is what i would prefer personally.
