hello all,

I want to make a new video ( Teaser trailer ) to upload to youtube and i know i can use up to 30 seconds of copyright music but is that for the entire video or can i use 30 second clips of copyright music from multiple songs ?

i recomend you to create your own music, is not that hard, and you will have a good intro good background music and so on

http://www.anvilstudio.com/

Or you could use different soundtracks and put them together, like metallica enter the sandman basic cords, then something with dio, and then something else, and play that track on the background, the issue is binding them together, and make that sound like a track, instead of 3 cutted songs.

some funny ideas that might just work.
do the track singing like your imitating the sound beats, for example mario :

TA TARA TARA TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

with some psyco yell and that intro will be epic.

if you got a youtube channel, you should avoid any copyright, it can kill your adsence.

Edit : you can also create midi files on guitarpro
Edit 2 : copyright music can be avoid if you record the track from the radio but google is going to mute it anyways.

Have a look on Newgrounds you can use most of the music on there for non commercial stuff as long as you credit the artist.

the non comercial tag kills that idea, because you do recive money on youtube, by adsence, so it is using a tone for comercial porpuses

however if this is not that case, you can use any background music, as long as you talk over it

edit : wait a second teaser trailer ?
do you refer fanboy movie fake trailers like ?

if so, you dont need to really consider the music, as long as you do not public add's over them, personaly i hate fanboys movie trailers it runs my day.

If you refer to an intro stage in youre movie clips well 30 seconds is enought, actually 30 seconds for an intro is a lot. you wont have any issues if "the musician doesnt speak" , you could argue you play that track youre self, however if the rock band or whatever talks, it could be an issue and your account will be denied to recieve adds, according to youtubes policy about copyright and so on, again i do not recomend to use anything, because most of the youtube channels with music are earning money and they dont like that the music is played anywhere else.

if they see your channel been "popular" they will argue is just because of the songs, but w/e

advice for any1 with a youtube channel that wants to be sponsored by machinima or some other 3rd party :
do not get adsence, let them do the work and contact you, adsence can kill your youtube channel just with missclicks on add's

The second part of your reply covers my take on adsence pretty well.
Unless you are getting tens or even hundreds of thousands of views there's no real money in it and by the time you get to that ammount of views you should be at the point where you can be looking at joining a network which can help you with stuff like obtaining rights to music.

Sometimes you can use more that 30 seconds, even entire song, depending on the company that owns the music, it will be blocked or it will just give you a message telling you that it contains 3rd party music and you just hit the Acknowledge button and it will let your video use it.
