Hi,

Can anyone please advise of a good performing thermal grease?

I was looking at Coollaboratory Liquid Pro Liquid Metal Thermal Paste
but it's not something I've used before but seems to be decent.
Is this stuff the bees knees?

Thanks

I have used that product and quite a few others. There is very little difference,
if any between most major brands as far as performance is concerned.
Personally I use Arctic Cooling MX4 as its easy to apply and remove (and non conductive ! ).
Hope this helps. :)

Not worth using it on a IHS. Difficult to remove, requires some time to spread ( you have to do it manually ), expensive, small improvements over high tier "normal" thermal greases, risk of short circuit if spilled on something and it literally ( almost ) EATS aluminium.

Gelid GC Extreme, AC MX4, Noctua NT H1, Thermalright CF3, Prolimatech PK1-2-3... very good options. Tom's hardware did a very good review of many thermal compunds, don't know if I can link it.

the liquid pro is best used for direct die usage. Like when delidding a cpu. I use MX4 and found it very very reliable as well as cost effective vs liquid pro (or ultra) for normal everyday use.

This is the correct answer. Using liquid ultra will make almost no difference on the IHS but if you delid switching out something like mx4 for liquid ultra makes a huge difference.

Another good one to look at is IC-Diamond but then again they are all pretty much the same, Well the top brands anyway.

icy 7 27 dimiond most people recomend me this.

I tested both IC-Diamond, MX etc... they are within a degree of each other sometimes the exact same, I have IC-Diamond at the minute, Oh and the only difference between IC-Diamond 7 carat and 24 carat is the size of the tube not the contents.

7 carat weighs 1.5g and 24 carat weighs 4.8G.

i have a refrenc and just copy paste it over with it i heard it stains or somthing might any one know any thing about that?

Yeah it does stain but it's more of a shadow and it cools very well, People must remember metal is still quite porous when it comes down to it :)

And to be honest when does one look at their heatsinks contact plate ? ;)
