Does it need to be freeware, or are you prepared to pay for the software?

Camtasia is quite good (the trial version is fully featured and good for 30 days)

You stated that you used convertvtodvd, have you seen this guide?

VSO ConvertXToDVD works great to you just drag the video file into the box and hit convert it can be setup to burn it after to. It keeps a high bitrate to couple i did were in high 5000s 5500-5800 looking at dvd stuff 6000 is bout high as you wanna go when converting.

I went through this personal dilema a year or so ago, and think I tried almost every available method at the time.

Using the tmpgenc, I found it very good at letting u setup stuff, convert stuff, with it`s two pakages - the encoder and the dvd authoring side. Took an amount of time to eff about with it tho, but even so, u have alot of control over what u do and can personalize u`r end result to a very good standard. Including adding u`r own pics and buttons to menuing styles, fading stuff and etc. Con I guess being the time. I`d guess that if u were doing personal videos, family stuff and so on, u`d love what this/these will let u do.

Now when I stumbled across the VSO software - as mentioned - 99.999% of the time u can just drop u`r avi (and some limited well encoded mpg/wmv I`ve found, customize stuff u can forget, or convert them to `nice` video first I spose) into the main window and hit the convert button.. that`s it. It`s very efficient, sets up u`r screen ratios automatically, and as mentioned also, it does an extremely good job at keeping good frame-rates. One thing I will mention tho is to make sure u go through all the options in the preferences before u set it converting. It`s a very very simple set of options, but you have to make sure u`ve got the correct tv thingy (pal/ntsc) and make sure it doesn`t delete the original when it ends. Personal I spose, but if it happens that u have a bad burn - u`r movie is gone. Another excellent thing this software will do (and u have to make sure u select it, again in the preferences - check the preferences) is to put a copy of the original avi on the dvd for u (if there is sufficient room). This could be handy for u is u decide to do things in the future with u`r movie.

no but afraid it wont do me any good, according to the guide i have done right to get sequential playback but for some reason does not work, atleast not in powerdvd vlc or wmp.

its 14 episodes of spiderman i recorded so no customization will be done.

nero vision, you may already have it, remember to update your installation with pack 1, 2 and 3 from nero website, (these contain extra programs.)

winavi rocks :) havent tried nero 7 full yet though but so far its worth the £

i'm still on 6, i could get on with 7, might give it another try now as it will have matured a bit.

I use Nero Vision for burning my DVD's. Works great, you can add menu's, put multiple video clips together as one, add music etc. Comes with nero 7, I think it's worth it.

your doing 14 videos at 30mins each im guessing your running into limits of video runtime usualy max hrs a dvd will hold is 4-6hrs. Your looking at 7hrs that could be your problem.
