If I remember correctly, it is some other company banking on the nostalgic value/cult status of the Commodore name rather then the actual Commodore company. The original company went bankrupt many years ago (1994) and sold off all its assets.

oh my.. oh.. my.. I want that, I covet that!

Edit: released in EU, so why $ prices??!

You're right.

Its an Italian duo.
That’s where things stood until March, when Massimo Canigiani and Carlo Scattolini registered Commodore Business Machines Limited in the UK. The Italian entrepreneurs claim to have acquired rights for the brand and trademark in the mobile industry in 38 countries, including the US.

Its a generic OEM android phone (a high end one) with some nice software by the sounds of things. I do quite like it. dual sim too.

One of the first computers I had was a Commodore 64 along with an Atari 800XL so it's good to see one of my favourite companies come back to life like this :)

I'm stuck on why they thought an 8-core cpu would be a good idea for a phone. We don't even need 8 cores on desktop PCs for the majority of work..

its 2 quad cores, one for performance and on for efficiency

and one bad idea. Lol

Be better off with a single quad core tbh. Even then we don't really need quad cores. Mobile phones would do better with stronger cores rather than more slightly weaker ones.

Works for everyone else. Gives you more power states and ability to change around wether you want speed or battery.

Samsung are doing it, as are many others.. They can only dissipate so much heat, so they pack in as much as they can with the more powerful quad and then pop in some extra cores for low power. It works. /fin

Is this a prank? How many times have we been told, something something is coming back with the Commodore or Amiga name... Don't care at this point :)

You'd love an iPhone then! ;) Still running on dual cores.

I want a good phone. That isn't one of them. They will break after a year, I see it everyday. Dropped my M8 countless times without a case and while the back is all scratched.. still runs as If brand new.

Intel have said the same though, phones need stronger cores than multiple weaker ones. Using less cores also means less power, less space taken up inside, simplifies design and therefore cheaper to produce.. also saves couple grams of weight because you only need one chip and not two. All they would need to do is turn off a core when it's at idle then turn it on when needed. That's a better design than two chips even if one is "low power".
