case filters

Hey guys,

I'm currently in the process of gathering parts for my upcoming build. I'm looking to make some filters as i have access to a laser cutting machine the school i work in.

My caselabs STH10 has a ventilated roof and side panels so i want to put filters on them. I've asked the teacher in the D.T build for permission to use the machine and he said yes.

Each filter is going to be made from two pieces of 2mm acrylic with mesh in between. My questions is what kind of mesh would be suitable to use?

Mosquito net could do the job i think or if you really want to make it dust-proof and willing to sacrifice a bit of airflow you can use "Pantyhose (US), tights (UK...?)"

Ventilated roof - wouldn't that be an exhaust then? Shouldn't need a filter on an exhaust - will only restrict airflow.

Another option, but larger weave though, go to hardware store and look for the mesh for screen doors and windows - pretty durrable.

I bought some of that stainless steel mesh, it pretty much cut the airflow in half, but it does keep the dust out.

Take a look here, they have alot of Options to fit well on most Cases ;)

Looks interesting but the school i work in, is allowing me to use materials at no charge but this would be my next option if things don't work out

Was only going to put it there as there is a lot of mesh on the roof and was thinking it would get dusty quick

Might buy this one or one that has slightly larger holes to allow more air to flow through
