cascade 3 is on the way and it must be smaller then cascade 2 by quite a bit

for it to fit the case i have in mind infact

65x45x30cm (lenght/width/height)

so to this end my home made 6m coil hx has to go first and be replaced with a plated hx

here is a pic of the hx from cascade 2

i have stayed with the boxed hx the way i did last time but much smaller

here is the new hx

the hx box is lined with 1 inch thick dence foam

the box its self is 1/2'' MDF glued and nailed with screw lid

Great stuff mate, I'm going to get my cousin to keep an eye on this thread as I'm hoping one day he can build one of these, hes just finished his hvac course. Keep it nice and technical mate, see if he can keep up.

lol zax i only started to build 6 months ago this would be nothing to a hvac:D

I read somewhere that building and regassing such phase change systems for cooling in PCs is slightly different from normal ac/refrigerant coolers, is that true?

Zax yes this is very true normal a/c uses a lot more refrigerant at different temperatures and pressures if you cousin did fridge type work that would be closer, if he did beer chillers etc its closer to single stage equipment but then cascade is a totaly different beast all together you are using one not so high pressure refrigerant to cool a high pressure refrigerant

Now that my friend is VERY nicely put together!! I wish I had the skills you have for this wood stuff, I suck at it so badly :(

Really looking forward to seeing this one :D

Boardy

Yea the woodwork skills are something else :D I cant get over how spot on the AC chamber looks :D

What kinda temps are ya aiming at this time Baz? Whats your compressor choice?

lol i got to stop building things and start to oc again:D

cascade 3 is the final unit the temps will depend on the gas now with R23

i can hold a fx57 @3.6 -90 evap temp so cascade 3 is not so much about getting colder but more about the end of the journey a unit that looks good

and works well all the time

i can always put R1150 in for a lower temp and may well do so later

Very nice looking mate

You cant get anymore out of you fx at -90 :O you will just have to grab mine and go for the 4.2 WR my cascade could only get it to hit 4gig but yours will be colder than mine when your finnished

*DROOOOOOOOOOLS*

Great to see the work you are doing Baz, I know it's sometimes hard to find the time to do things like this inbetween family and normal work - I look forward to seeign teh end of this journey, -90 @ 3.6ghz on a FX57 is sweet - would love to see what you could hold a kentsfield at ;)

Yes u need to get back to clocking, also come on in here and join the UK's finest benchmarking team - united countrymen in the battle for benchmarking supremacy :)
