Car photos/discussion thread

I've been watching a few too, also been watching drift and Dyno fails. Now watching Evo 8's with 282 cams. They sound very fruity.

My day has basically consisted of watching youtube videos from all the teams at gumball, i really want to go to Edinburgh to see the European start grid but i don't have the money, ill just find somebody who needs a kidney  Whats not fair is that my brother is coming back from his corsa meet and will probably get to see the gumballers. I hope i get the opportunity to see the gumball someday, the P1 mclaren looks mad, also there is an amazing ferrari gto.

You better start savin' :) you will go one day, I'm sure of it.

I want an Evo 8 or 9 now. My dream would be to own Skyline GTR R34 but I heard they are really expensive to maintain. Not sure if it's true.

My favourite 2 cars so far, i like another one but i can't find it just now but anyway

Yeah i hope :)

I prefer the R33, i just like the curves and they are a fraction of the price. The only reason they cost a lot to maintain is because everybody who owns one thrashes it so even if it only had 20k miles it will feel like its had 100k. If you know what you are doing it is cheaper, when the next gen skyline comes out it might drop in price who knows

I've narrowed my choice to two now. R33 GTR or R33 GTSt. I would love an R34 GTR but a decent one is way out of my price range.

Any of you guys have experience with rev limiters? Been thinking about getting one as I (absolutely) love the sound of them, my car is fully mechanical though, no ecus or anything, is it even possible to get one ?

Good choice if you get a R33, im not sure of the difference between the two, i love the car though.

GTSt is RWD whereas the GTR is 4WD, GTSt is 2.5l single turbo and the GTR is 2.6l twin turbo. The list goes on.

What car is it? Might find something on the owners forums or something.

You already have one, most likely a centrifugal governor. (if it truly is fully mechanical) No limiter would mean you'd be able to rev it till it self destructed. Modern ecu based rev limiters just cut out the fuel injectors until the rpm falls, which does exactly the same thing as the mechanical device. i.e. limit fuel supply when a certain rpm is hit.

Just a quick one, you're on the right lane, but its an ignition cut not a fuel cut, engine would go bang very quickly on fuel cut ;)

What are you wanting it for? Any kind of drifting and get the GTSt. Aything else, the GTR if you can afford it.

Just for fun really. Not really interested in drifting. I've had my 1.6 Astra for 6 years and it's about time I got a car that I can be proud of.

I'm going to go for the GTR as I love the RB26 engines. I will aim to get a stock one. If they still exist and probably replace the internals with forged ones in the future.

It's early days yet and I still have a lot of saving to do.

Easiest way to get a stock one is to import it from Japan. I see alot of nice stock gtrs going through auctions daily (I watch the auctions when I'm bored) which are in decent condition (example). Most companies can source and import one for you.

I spoke to one company from a Skyline owners forum about imports and they will happily do it for me, they've been doing it since 1992 and at the moment the yen is about 170 to the £ which supposedly is the highest it's been since 2008.

He's looking out for midnight purple R33 GTRs for a couple of his clients atm.

A certain kambo is on the lookout for one of those as well. I've also been looking for one (out of interest as they are the most sort after r33s)
