Car photos/discussion thread

quick question guys, is it best to get a 4 channel speakers amp with 4 decent speakers first or a decent subwoofer? keeping in mind an amp costs 100eu and a sub costs about 400. what I mean is do I keep the 4 channel amp money and get a sub first or just buy the amp now and get the sub later down the road?

Just get a cheap 2nd hand sub you wont notice any audio difference between a cheap sub and an expensive one in a car, and if you mess up the wiring and it pops it isn't as painful for your wallet.

This is my brothers it cost him £40 and it shakes the house.

good luck transporting bodies in that boot. i tested my old scirocco. you could get a 6ft man easy with room for a average height female aswell. this was a mistake. also. sound systems are soooooo 2000s.

Corsa sound systems are so crap you do need to go all retro and 2000-esque. Unless you want to go for the old school 1990s phone speaker sound quality.

Really???

Ever heard a high end car audio system, there is a massive difference between the cheap stuff and good stuff!

Its like comparing the Z87 to B85!

I've had cheap, fli, mutant and other halfords shit stuff, ive also had Audison, Rockford Fosgate and JL Audio stuff and i will ALWAYS buy the better stuff, audio is alot more precise, crisp, more pleasant to listen to.

Just because it shakes the house doesnt make it good as the expensive option, in fact thats the complete opposite!

Im not saying don't buy cheaper stuff, sometimes you have no choice, but before making such bold claims do some research.

We installed a full Sony Xplod system in my mates Sierra, including:
8x drive speakers (Dash & Doors),
4x tweeters (Dash & headlining),
2x parcel shelf 6x9s, 2x 16" Subs,
2x 1000w Amps,
1x Power cap,
1x Leisure Battery,
Xplod Head unit
and 16 Meters of Brown bread sound proofing.
1x 8'x4' 18mm MDF (Bass box)
20 Meters of Black Felt Carpet.
If you put the time and effort in you get amazing sound quality.. Of cause it all costs a small fortune and lots of fun wiring it all in.

All went in here.

just love those cars!! aaah if i ever have to money to buy one i instantly will, been my dreamcar since i've been a kid ^^

They are surely one of my faves of all time as wel ^^

Also, its pretty easy to tell the difference between good speakers and crap ones. That said, you can improve most car audio systems by putting some sound blocking foam in bits of the car that would create echos.

If you could make a guide that would be great, kthanx.

Speaking of car audio, I've always wanted to upgrade but don't have the knowledge or tools. I follow Steve Meade on YouTube though, wish I had his workshop!

This. I do have some speakers knowledge, I can do most of the wiring but the thing that have kept from buying stuff and installing them myself is the sheer amount of cables behind the stereo. For example the amplifier I've been looking at, I can cable all the speakers with new wire, I can pass the wire that connects at the back of the headunit but then get lost at the power and remote cables

Well I've had a hellish few weeks with my car :/. new radiator a few weeks ago due to overheating, didn't work. Fan wasn't cutting in so we replaced the sensors for water temp etc. Still didn't work so we tried a new thermostat, as the fan worked when we wired it to the battery. Whilst bleeding the air out of the system a bolt head broke off and it started throwing coolant everywhere -.-. Took the thermostat housing off and got the bolt out then took it to a parts shop and got a bolt for it.

Fan still wouldn't cut in so we took a closer look at the fan, turns out in Peugeot's infinite wisdom that the fan resistor should go at the front, bottom of the car where all the salt and water can get to it. Summed up, it was mostly blue with corrosion. Bypassed it by joining the wires and now the fan cuts in at 85 degrees without fail. Takes a bit longer to warm up now and doesn't get to the normal running temp it used to but at least it isn't overheating :L.

I haven't heard a comparison between them im just going by from when i heard either of them at different times, fair enough expensive stuff is probably better but is it better enough for the price and when you will always have car noise in the background, the average listener probably wont notice a massive difference either, when i get round to putting speakers in my own car i will still probably save and get a decent brand but i wont be spending more than a couple of hundred.

How long did all that take to sort out?

Give me a couple of weeks to pick up my new car and ill be able to show the difference between cheap and expensive kit. Ill be doing a low end competition setup in a Saab 9-3 wagon soon.

Quick couple of shots from the old car
