As much as I love modded cars, for me a car without a badge is not a car anymore, I hate them with all my heart, no matter how clean they look, its just not the same.....

I'm thinking of buying it y'see (this is unless my pc sale actually happens as this is my new pc budget)and that does bother me too :P. I'd re badge it tbh.

Guys, I have a question for you, I was going to get a can of spray the colour of my car (orangy copper) and spray the front calipers and rear drums but I got told off doing them the same color as the car, some told me red or yellow, but I'm scared it'll look like I tried to match it to the car and I failed, so those I'm trying to avoid. So I was thinking, why not blue? I think it'll look ace tbh but I'm a failure in Photoshop so if someone can spare me 5 minutes and do the rear drums and front calipers in blue, I would greatly appreciate it :)

My advice..........................No

Do not spray your rear hubs ever, It looks shit. As for the calipers you have three choices as far as I am concerned. One is the same colour as your car, Two is black and three is do not spray them which is what I would do. Those tiny calipers will look stupid painted a colour that will stand out. Black to help them look a bit cleaner but I wouldn't go beyond that if I was you. Save your money for petrol.

As for your friends red or yellow only looks good with a colour like red or black/grey or white etc. Very vibrant colours like blues, yellow and oranges do not mix well with reds or yellows imo.

Here is a car with a similar colour to yours with matching calipers and it looks pretty good. But that is with a car with front and rear calipers.

How about painting all the calipers and drums black?, at least the wheels will look cleaner without much washing :)

Personally I would be leary of that. Whoever owned that "pimped" it out and likely ragged on it real bad.
It also has been damage repaired. I changed my mind as it has a lot of miles and the damage repair job is a bit... dodgy.

-edit- This makes me moist. Like all good hot hatches. These are maad.Proper italian hot hatch. Basically too much power (250!)and front wheel drive. Autotrader link

If you insist on painting them then black would be best as it will clean them up a bit as you say. I still would save the money to be honest. Remember to use hammerite paint on the calipers though as ordinary paint wont last with the heat.

I am just going to leave this here, a pic of my car atm before it goes for paint either this week or next :cool::cool:

Thats a beast you got right there mate, fuckin' love it <3 <3

on a side note, I spent 3 hours trying to straighten the frickin handbrake, it is tilted to one side and grinds with the centre console and drives my ocd nuts, added a couple washers to make one side higher than the other to compensate for the tilt, only to get the same exact problem after re-fitting the centre console, fuckin 'ell :| (on a side note, I got one hell of a shoulder workout :P)

This is my first car and the one I have just now. Passed my test a wee bit later than everyone else but finally got there! Absolutely love this beast.

Would recommend one to anyone!

Tempted to stick some bigger gun metal coloured alloys on it with carbon wrap on the bonnet and roof but not sure if it would waste it...

I like Astra's but I have been unlucky with mine. Before it reached 30k miles. It's had a new ECU, camshaft oil seals, twice. 2 Cambelt kits and eventually a new engine, cambelt snapped at 22k miles on the M25.

Luckily all this was whilst under warranty and the replacement engine was about a month before the warranty was out. It's at 42k miles now and I don't use it as I have a company van.

Finally got around to painting the front calipers and rear drums, went with forged black from Hammerite, it looks like dark gunmetal and deffo better looking than flat black, and in the meantime doesn't scream cheap in your face. While I had the rims off I also gave them a good clean, they had some serious gunk in there :)

Think i have found a first car.
Smartcar roadster, it looks pretty nice and insurance isn't too bad either.

I looked at one for my first and sadly they are too good to be true. The issue with them is that its hard to get a non abused one for cheap and they have a habit of developing leeks everywhere, especially in the cabin :I.

I think i would get a new one from a dealer or something tbh it would always be parked inside anyway, ill take what you said on board though and make sure i don't get a leaky one.

They stopped selling them ages ago. which is a shame as they are fantastic little cars, very bare to the bone as well. If you find a nice one for a decent fight I'll fight you for it ;)

You could say they look "smart" ;) Ill have a serious look nearer the time but if there is something wrong my dad is pretty good with cars so he will know how to fix it

A girl in my group at college is hoping to get insured on her dads triumph stag. 3L v8 for an 18 year old..... Though she says vintage insurance so i'm not sure. Anyone know anything about it?
