Can the Xbox One ever catch up to the PS4? Phil Spencer has admitted that Sony have a "huge lead" and said that he doesn't know if they can catch up.

I doubt it. It was basically a choice of two evils and if one is actually physically inferior then why would you buy it unless you were a die hard fan?

Exclusives.

XB1 has Halo and Forza which are huge franchises with many fans including myself, I don't have an XB1 personally as I'm waiting for the revised model to come out just like the PS4 has had a die shrink to use less power and produce less heat albeit no actual performance increase.

I agree also it makes a better media centre and since the majority of gaming I do is on the PC this is probably more important for me if I was to buy one

MS had a bad start for sure, but once they sold consoles without Kinect things started getting better. The Halo MCC problems sure didn't help though - I bought an xbone for MCC and still feel a bit of a sting over that. I don't think most people care about the difference in performance between the two consoles, so MS still has room to maneuver. Backwards compatibility is promising for the xbone, they still have a great online service, but I believe they need another big exclusive in their catalogue - maybe they could emulate Sony and get a FromSoftware exclusive, or a developer of similar calibre and reputation (Red Dead 2 exclusive on Xbox? <evil grin>). MS took a huge hit with the rrod issue on the 360 which cost them over a billion dollars to resolve, but when it came to it they didn't flinch and spent the money to fix it - if they can get really aggressive on their pricing this generation I think they could catch up, but they are gonna have to really push the boat out though I reckon. (I've got an xbone and a ps4 btw).

PS has backwards compatibility too so that argument is moot. Granted its not as well implemented and more limited currently imo however it's possible.

Only reason to go Xbox is Exclusives. Other than that PS is far superior in every way. I own both and for AAA games it's pretty much a no brainer to go PS since the graphics are better. That's the only difference between AAA games so mine as well get the one that looks better since everything is the same. Also since the PS is sooo far ahead, more people have it which means your friends are more likely to have it, that's a huge deal for everyone and probably the first big thing someone looks for in a console.

Should also mention in the Article that the PS is cutting a price cut permanently. That should further push them forward ahead

It may be bad now, but its great news for next generation. MS will pull out all the stops, for performance and price.

Will be interesting to see how they go with integrating XBone & Windows 10. That may be a huge thing in Xbox's favour.

IF they can make it so you can play the same game (one licence) on both platforms. So start on one platform and finish on another then it would be a deal sealer for me.

Playing on the big tv in the lounge and then the Mrs decides its' time for Netflix and continue on your PC? Brilliant. Make it happen.

I'll most likely go PS4 for my next console because most of my mates have them so we can swap games around. My PS3 is going strong and I don't use it much anyway. Last game I bought was GTA V and that was because it wasn't released on PC.

I had PS3, PS2, Playstation (it didn't have a number back then lol) and yeah backwards compatible is nice but I've hardly ever played a previous gen title. They look rubbish.

Although... If I could find my Road Rash disc again...

Well from what I read recently, is that Sony have dropped the price of their PS4 by $50 in the US due to the fact that the XB One sales are ever increasing.

It is also suggested its due to the SEVERE lack of exclusives on PS4 compared to Xbox. I think PS4 has only 1 exclusive which isn't until early next year. (or maybe 1 this year)

I'd get an Xbox because of exclusives. I prefer Forza to Gran Turismo. If they were to port games like forza horizon to PC I'd have no reason to choose it.

I'd get an Xbox for the fact that it should be able to stream PC games at some point. Consoles are HTPCs for me, my PC is the powerhouse.
