Bulldozer hype

I'm upgrading the bulldozer, no doubt: even if it means upgrading my motherboard to an AM3+ (which I believe the new bulldozer chips will be using). Besides...AMD use new sockets MUCH less often than Intel.

I'll believe this when I see it but until then, sorry but I just don't think it's true.

I am not a Intel fanboy or a AMD one but I can not see AMD beating Intel on performance and certainly not 50%. If they had said 5% i'd believe it but not 50%.

I have read a similar article on Techpowerup which says

"Very little is known about the processor, including at what clock speed the processor was running at, much less what other components were driving the test machine."

On top of that we don't know if the tests are based on multi core or single core and what the tests were. Keep in mind the preview benches for the i5 2400 on Anandtech showed it beating the 980x at most things and definitely above the 950. If it is true credit where credits due and hats off to AMD but the proof is in the pudding and I ain't finished dinner yet.

Maybe 50% after 2 years of it being out the perfected the gpu and motherboards.

The GPU will be better than the one in Sandy Bridge CPUs that is for sure, but I don't believe it's the same for the CPUs. Like I said though, i'm not a fanboy and if it is true, all credit to AMD.

i read that its going to 8 core but only run on 4 points as if it was a 4 core but twice the power so in gaming test it could be at least close to 50% im new to this so could be well off just my 2pence

So is Bulldozer going to have a GPU in it too? Also will there be any disabled overclocking features like sandy?

I hope not in regards to both.

Well in certain benchmarks Sandy Bridge i7 has like a 40% gain over the 950, so 50% isn't too far-fetched. Considering how major the changes to the architecture they are making I think they just might be able to pull it of.

I'm not polished on this subject.

Technology wise Bulldozer may bring more potential though maby when that happens Intel will be on Core4/5 or a completely new architecture stealing the market as i read at present Sandy Bridge probably is better

I'm really trying to hold out for the bulldozer.. Hoping it will be as they said.. but When is it going to be released.. I thought it was going to be released in jan. but then I heard feb. I'm hoping I don't hear march soon..

Doesn't come out till Q2 I think. I doubt benchmarks a lot and feel they are a good reference but are useless really. As long as if Bulldozer feels good, fast and capable of a lot and also comes in at a good price, hats off to AMD. I look forward to seeing the rest of the year from AMD.

We're looking at May

(Unless AMD push it back further)

Only Bobcat will have an integrated GPU, Bulldozer wont also i don't think there will be any issues with overclocking unlike Intel from what i can gather.

What do you mean Issues? Are you talking about Intel forcing you to buy a K series? Or the fact you can't move the fsb on p67 boards?

Has 100% more cores but can only produce a 50% speed increase over a i7-950, not to impressive

only 4 points so it could pass as a 7ghz 4core when it needs to or a 8 core 3.5ghz when it needs to or it thats how it seems to me

I for one dont mind if AMD beat Intel, I would be more than happy if they just get damn close and keep the price low, if they can pull that off then they've won in my eyes since even just being close to Intel is put the heat on them and force them prices down. but saying that if it does beat intel.. even better

..A ! M ! D !...A ! M ! D !...sorry got carried away..It is way..way too early to know how Bulldozer will compare to ANY current product..BUT..we can dream and hope..I for one do know that it should be cheaper for me to buy than Intel..right..?
