Hello all!

Region: United Kingdom (British)

Budget: £500-550 for the computer, £100-150 for a monitor, keyboard and mouse. (GBP)

Aim: Apart from searching the Internet and social networking I don't really play many games, maybe the odd MMORPG or FPS, but nothing extreme, sorry if that doesn't really help. I'd like to watch videos on YouTube, preferably at 1080p without lagg, and movies on Netflix, without all the darn buffering. But I download the majority of the movies I watch, because it's free.. *Cough no Internet Police here is there? :P*. And a friend told me that I need a a Solid State Drive for that?

Reason for wanting to upgrade: I gathered it was time I moved on from my HP Pentium Processor'd computer that has a 1 GB RAM and get up to date >_>

Thanks :)

you can spend 5000 pounds on a PC and still have netflix/youtube buffering, it really doens't help at all if your connection is slow.

Here is what I came up with for the system.
I'm not an expert when it comes to peripherals, so you'll have to ask someone else for that :p

SeekaX is right though. All that really matters is connection with netflix.

To be honest if you only really want a rig for watching movies and the odd MMO, I'd be looking into an AMD FM2 system with 4gb ram and an SSD.
The although it's a budget rig, if your going to be using it for everyday task a SSD will make a world of difference, and you don't need much graphical/processing power for the task you've listed, so I'd be sticking by budget in the direction of an SSD :)

Just my 2 cents ;)

well he is into some fps as well. so the idea of averageninja isn't too bad.
else i would +1 your idea.

Haha thanks guys. I say the odd FPS and MMORPG, realistically all I play is Soldier Front(From Aeria Games) and perhaps RuneScape once an hour every other week. I mainly watch Films and just surf the Internet. I have decent Internet, It's Virgin Media's Fiber Optic, 30Mb I think. Which obviously isn't the fastest, but it's fast enough.

Really all I want is a good, fast, reliable computer that doesn't take ages to boot up and load web pages/applications.

Then get something like the system I listed. It includrs a SSD for faster boot times :D

Use this build, but swap the 2.5 scorpio for a 3.5 Blue/Black and you'll be golden :)
My idea still an option, but if budget allows we might as well use it ;)
