[Build Log] Mil-Spec

Old school member (2005) resurfacing for a nosey. (don't mind me :P)

All that work with the Yellow and the piping is a little ruined by the lighting on this one for me. When the first images of the chromed pipes showed up my jaw hit the floor, absolutely stunning! But then the green lights appeared and it feels like it's ruined :(

That aside, this really is stunningly good work... Lots of effort but it's kind of hidden and almost minimalist, like it should be there anyway if that makes sense.

I wasn't a fan of that motherboard either until you put it in the rig, really nice.. Does the top plate on it serve any purpose other than being a dust trap on them though? For looks however it's brilliant, every piece of hardware chosen for this rig is spot on, really looks the dogs danglies!

Its a pleasure to have your post!
I am very much into clean tidy builds,i like it when stuff looks like it should belong as you say....you can blame Coolmiester for that,he has been the guy that i look at for that style,he carries things off that look like you could buy it off the shelf.

The green LEDs are not that bright in RL,it is the long exposure time that makes the LEDs glow like that.

The cover plate is supposed to stop dust actually landing on the board....
Personally,i think it may be a gimmick, but that doesnt stop it looking ok.

Thanks for breaking cover to post!

You're quite welcome :) I can't think of a better thread to post in to come back to :)
The image did look a little bit long on the exposure, but I think i'd still have steered clear of the green :P but perhaps that's taste..

With the cover, I'd have thought it just creates a closed space where any airflow will just allow dust to compact and settle in a way? I don't know really, either way it suits it down to the ground and I think you've done a superb job of making everything else fit in.

I'm glad you resisted the urge (I bet it crossed your mind) to Carbon the pipes, they really do smack you in the chops when they appear in the build log :)

It did, then i realized it would be impossible to get it to look anywhere near decent..i also thought of doing them powdercoat black with yellow bands near the fittings....

Maybe the next one.....

Sometimes fate has a way of making these things happen the way they should!
I think it looks absolutely stunning as it is :)

Good news!
After speaking to Mark (the Dad),due to the comments that he has read in the build log,he has expressed an interest in getting the GPUs waterblocked in the new year,so it looks like this isnt as finished as first thought!

I got to say,he is right,it NEEDS GPU blocks, that will finish it up nicely.

christ just read this thread from start to finish, what an excellent build B Negative I hope the little man receiving this takes good care of this little baby, that is some serious rig.
