Decided its about time I got some breakdown cover...as it hasn't happened to me yet...but bound to when I'm miles away from home!

Looking for some UK breakdown cover, opinions and experiences please :)

In the UK - Don't care about home break down that much as I can usually fix it or know someone who can!

Mainly for situations like on the way to the airport..oh shit the cars died!

Cheeeers

So if I am personally covered...I can just buy a new car and won't need to change any of my policy as its me thats covered not the car?

And for example...if im in a car that breaks down - they will come out and sort the car - or just ferry me wherever I need to go

AA's been great for me.

Used them a couple of weeks ago as I got locked out of the house. My mum was away, but had left the car at a local train station, so got the AA to come to get into her car to get the garage keys out. Came within an hour and a half and had the keys out within about 5/10 minutes without doing any damage to the car whatsoever.

I've heard other reports from a friend who's with the AA though:
His brother was driving back from France, just got off the ferry in Dover...and ran out of petrol. Called the AA who came, put the car on tow, and towed them all the way back to Sheffield (250 miles), so obviously saved them a fair amount of petrol too.

Seems quite a good company if they'll do something like that though!

Greenflag are still one of the best and cheapest really.

Avoid RAC like the plague. They've been useless at every experience I've had with them.

I hear AA are pricey but service is okay.

Ant.
