Bodybuilding/Powerlifting

Drink coffee and workout :)
So you are in rehab huh? Too bad that PC is just sitting at your home :D
i meant to write sets, do 30 push-ups, then 30sec-45sec rest, then repeat 3-5 times, or if you cant do that much, lower the ammount of repeats you do to like 10-20 and do more sets, same with crunches, also try doing plank , and later on planch , and do more types of ab excercises i mean you workout like my granma xD

Nah I don't have to stay in! I can just be at home, I only have to go in twice a week for physio therapy, occupational therapy and fitness.

The sets do sound like a good idea. I can just do push ups, take some rest in my arms while I do the first set of the rest of the exercises and then repeat 2 or 3 times.

I don't need a lot of ab exercise tbh, I'm quite underweight so they are probably the most developed / showing muscles that I have. I need to balance it out ;)

Oi! In my defense I am recovering from surgery. I can't do that much. I'm also not massively into body building, just staying in shape, preferably as effectively as possible.

Drinking coffee and then working out is not a good idea if you want a thorough workout, The coffee will supply a short burst of energy and then you'll hit a slump.

The best pre-workout for lots of energy is a hearty meal consisting of complex carbs and lean protein.

You have to remember Feronix had spinal surgery, You try working out properly after that, Not going to happen.

Also working out in the morning before work or school is not a good idea either because then for the rest of the day your energy levels will be lower than normal which will impact your work or school work, For a full workout it is best done after work/school and /or on days off plus gives you a chance to have good pre and post workout nutrition.

Yea i know i was joking, also @Dicehunter
Just be carefull and dont push it too hard cuz of the surgery, to protect your spine, put your arms behind your head and cross your fingers while doing crunches.

Some people prefer to workout in the morning, it all deppends on a person, and he said he cant do anything before drinking a coffee first, so please read it all fully.
I for first, during summer wake up at 7AM, go outside do some calisthenics(pull ups, push ups, dips etc) then hit the pool at arround 10am, till 1pm, go home, eat, go back, swimm. But it all deppends on a person for his workout schedule, everyone workouts at the best time for them

Yes proper meals are a must, but he didnt ask that, he should intake lots of carbs if he is skinny, but also lots of proteins, get dem chicken breasts :D
Here is what i just found about working out in the morning:
http://www.boxingscene.com/exercise/1312.php

Though, i for one, when i workout in the morning, feel a lot better during the day, happier, and im not so tired, almost everyone prefers to workout in the morning. Ive also read a study few years back, that people that worked out in the morning, had higher testosterone lvls than the ones that worked out in different times of day.

Just to let you know I'm a fully qualified personal trainer and sports nutritionist, I'm giving advice that generally works for the student/worker i.e not training in the morning etc.....

Also lose the attitude, It's not needed.

Wut attitude? O_O
And im just expressing my opinion, i know many trainers and nutritionists that never steped in a gym, and only know what they have read, not saying that has anything to do with you, im also planning to go for sports college to be personal trainer or nutritionist, or both, who knows :D
Im just writting from my experience and from experience of people i know. (im also a student anyway)

You know many trainers who have never been into a gym ?

I've been working in the fitness industry for around 5 years now and I've never met a trainer who's not stepped into a gym, Infact that sounds a little suspicious to be honest.

let me rephrase it, i know many people that finished sports college, its called DIF here, you can be trainer, nutritionist etc when you finish it, deppending what section you pick. And yes i know many of them that finished and dont know shit, one told me that suplements are steroids, and that taking whey hurts your heart and that you may die e_e

Well who ever is teaching them is an idiot ^_^
our schools are one of the best, the problem is that they are one minded dumbo`s who dunno shit, they read some shit online, and go with it, there was even a big media mess when a kid died for taking steroids, but they wrote it also that suplements are wrong, and that you will die if you take them lolz.
The problem is that people arent informed well enough.

I was thin like a twig when I was competing in BJJ (Less than 70kg) but after a car accident then I started going to the gym - never looked back since.

At this moment then I am bulking doing cycle of Test E + Deca + Anavar just finished the first week and all ready I am seeing some results (yes, yes I know that its some water retention.. but still!) The Anavar is to kick start the cycle for 4 weeks.

Any of you Gym Bros have any prior experience with cycles?
Not really a bulking cycle by any stretch. Deca has next to nothing for side effects and Anavar is generally what women use for the same reason, quite mild stuff. Not sure what Test E is though? I am usually pretty honest and open with those that ask and generally want to know. Although it has been many years since I have gone down that path, and honestly didn't really find it to be worth the expense. I always tell people, why are you wanting to take them? If you don't plan on making a career out of the sport or you need the recovery aspects of them for professional sport, but just take them to look good temporarily, it really doesn't make any sense to spend the money on them.

Well... how's everyone's lifting going?

With me, I'm now down to 75kg bodyweight, my abs are really starting to show now. I've never been this lean before, which is pretty damn cool. ^_^

I've been on a very low carb diet for the last few months. I said I'd try it as an experiment after the Christmas, and I'm surprised at how effective it's been at losing bodyfat. Basically every meal for me is Meat/Fish or Organ Meat, with Steamed or Fermented Vegetables, and a Fat source like Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Beef Tallow or Lard.

I estimate close to 10% now for myself.

My one rep maxes PBs are in the OP, I haven't really been shooting for one rep maxes for a long time though. My workouts these days are more bodybuilding type workouts. I still squat and deadlift for the back and legs, but I do more reps (3x5) at the moment.

My records thus far:

Deadlift - 190kg
Squat - 130kg
Bench - 100kg (My bench wouldn't be the best).

Wow those numbers are insane for 75kg, how tall are you if you don't mind me asking? You should think about entering competitions because 190kg deadlift at 75kg is pretty insane especially at 10% BF...

I'm 1.73m, or about 5'8''. I'm not particularly tall, I never have been, nor was I ever going to be.

Thanks for compliment, although I think you're giving me too much credit. ^_^

It's been nearly two years since I pulled 190kg, I haven't tried to best it since. In fact I'm only back to deadlifting again regularly in the last month or so. You see, I gave myself a muscle imbalance in my legs from doing One Legged Bulgarian squats and using different form on both sides - let that be a lesson to anyone, make damn full sure you use the same form on both sides if you work out one leg (or any other body part) at a time.

I used to get lower back pain as a result of an uneven load when I was deadlifting, so I cut them out to rectify the imbalance. I'm in the process of getting my deadlift back where it used to be. I just did 140kg for a set of four in the gym over the weekend. Back when I hit the PB I used to deadlift 160kg for a set of 5.

Also that squat figure of 130kg wasn't done to parallel either, and that's over 2 years ago now I'd say, but I did in the last few weeks squat 120kg well below parallel, but only for a single rep though.

Resurrecting this thread for some advice.

Anychance anyone has run into shoulder troubles whilst doing weights above shoulder?
I get this horrible pain in the centre back of my shoulder and it completely shuts me down, been going to gym for 2 months for 4 days a week without fail and this has suddenly popped up.

You've likely just pulled it dude, try and do some light work and mobility work.

Bodybuilding though, thats the past. I'm currently the 6th place competitor in the UK for Battle of the Beasts. (CrossFit) :)

Is everyone lifting?

Me, I've gotten to the stage now where I'm doing my pullups weighted with an extra 20kg. It's kind of cool when your bodyweight just isn't enough for you anymore. ^_^

Yep :)

I broke my personal record on the Thursday just gone, Deadlift 5x5 with 200KG, Taken me a few years to work up to that but I felt beastly afterwards :)
