Bodybuilding/Powerlifting

So just... do things regularly then. Keep moving and don't sit still for too long. Going to be a looooong few weeks!

Thanks for the honest advice though guys, appreciate it greatly :)

Pretty much yeah, Stay active, Stay limber and as Kbalaz said don't use unnecessary tension when lifting/moving etc....

If you have to lift something heavy get someone else to do it :)

Although it doesn't sound like exercise, because you've probably got a weak neck you could probably start by strengthening that up. When my Mum had a disc removed from her neck, they basically got a 6" on her throat and was advised to make it stronger by the basic looking, up and down, left and right.

I know your not a gym kind of guy so of all the timing in the world...maybe right now at this moment isn't the best. Just rest and heal up.

I was away from all forms of fitness for a whole month!... Oct 31 I was in car accident, nobody was injured, I thank God, but the car was in shop getting fixed for almost the full month of November. I couldn't get to the gym during that time without asking for rides and I don't like to ask for rides.

I'm on day three now after getting back into it. I'm doing more cardio than usual to burn off all that month of lazy fat. Two 20 min running sessions each day (morning and evening). I follow that with 40 minutes of lifting. Starting pretty much at ground zero again with just about everything, but sure feels great to be sweating and working out again.

I ordered some powerlifting shoes for the squat rack. Mostly got them because they look cool and it will motivate me. they have real benefits of course too. I usually squat in running shoes and I deadlift barefoot. I'll probably still deadlift barefoot.

Last few comps.

Deadlift comp 30/11: 220-230-235 (miss)

Push Pull comp 7/12: 155(miss)-155 (miss)-155 and 210-220-230-232.5

Not bad, but not great. New goals for Feburary are a 170kg comp bench,250kg squat and 250kg deadlift. I was peaking for a bench comp in October and stupidly decided to do a 1RM after the comp got cancelled. All in all a good year.

Broke my PR this morning, 8 reps of 60KG DB chest press moving back down to 40KG for the remaining sets, Quite happy with myself, This time last year I was at 40KG as a PR :)

Not sure what mine is, haven't tried it with dumbells since working in the gym but I used to do incline press (only about two notches up) with 40kg. I was a bit of a beast at 19/20. Not so much now for some reason!

Edit:
Bit of an odd question but one of you might have an idea. So when doing HIIT, if I need to do say form of toe touch, or infact, imagine being on the floor hands behind you and you alternate legs but instead you lift one hand and one foot up and try to touch, I get a really sharp pain, in the pubic area. I don't know if its just weak as fuck there for some reason or what. Another example, side plank, then bend one knee to touch your elbow to it, its like the core strength isn't there but the pain is pretty sharp and yeah just makes me cringe thinking of it. Whats that all about?

Really good Jack. We need to give you a name like the Beast of the High Mountains or something like that. What is a Push Pull comp? Is that another name for a bench press?

Thanks for the encouragement mate :) Push/Pull is a Bench and Deadlift comp. So no squat.

Not weighed myself in months, but on 31st I was at 97kg/ 13 1/2 st. No sure how I feel about it, I thought I'd be heavier having gained size, but at the same time, great, I need to get lighter for abs.

Some sort of witchcraft. Edited post above, I don't know what I' am then.

Edit: 86kg is 13 1/2 which is now ringing bells. Maybe it was 86 but why do I have 97 in my head...

That's my weight currently at 14% BF, Maybe you were thinking of me, TIZ A BROMANCE !!! ^_^

Does anybody have experience with Nordic or Nordik or however you spell it fitness equipment? Are they a good brand?

My boss is looking at some kit from them for his home gym and asked me, but as far as equipment names go I'm not sure, I'm better at seeing it in person and seeing how good they are, but in regards to things like treadmills, I'm sure some will have issues which I have no idea about.

Yay for progress!

While you lot have been lifting weights heavier than myself, I've started to feel a little better since Christmas and picked up the daily routine again. Only difference is that now I do them at night when I can push myself a little, take the morphine pill and go to bed, rather than trying myself out in the morning and not be able to do much during the day.

Started with 10 push ups and 10 crunches and worked up from there. Tonight I did 20 push ups, 25 crunches and 25 squads. Whooo improvement!

Also, at the medical rehabilitation centre they have equipment to measure how many KGs you can squeeze with your hands. The average for a 20 year old male being 55KG. When I first tried that 2 weeks ago I could do ~35 KG with my right hand and a whopping 15KG on the left. Last Tuesday this had improved to 25 on the left and 47 on the right :)

Do you guys know of anything I can do to improve the muscle in my lower arms and mainly my hands? Anyone but Shaun, that is

Hahaha, well you good have a tug session but if you want to stay dry then you could buy some of those grip things that you squeeze (don't know they're name). There are forearm exercises but you need to do them with a barbell, basically sit on a bench, forearms flat between your legs, hands just off the edge of the bench, roll the bar to your fingertips then back up and squeeze.

Any type of bicep movements is good for forearms too, particularly hammer curls...have you got any dumbells or anything?

Its squats btw, you must of got mistaken between squats and quads. :D

Thanks mate! I do actually have one of those things (basically you pull the grip thing down with your fingers and it is attached to the top with rubber bands) but I've borrowed it from the rehabilitation centre. Any idea where you can buy those?

I don't own dumbells but I've recently found out that you can get them reasonably cheap so I have been thinking about purchasing a set.

Ah right! I always mess that one up :p At least I get to blame it on being Dutch!
