blank LCD

I have recently dug out my GT because i was going to slap it atop of my 4800+

i knew it needed the fans replacing so i did that and they worked, and thats about it.

The lcd lights up but is completely blank, the compressor and fans start up but the head just gets cold to the touch. I have allready reflashed it but that didn't change the situation.

what annoys me the most is it ain't even a year old, but i can't find the receipt.

any help would be usfull.

When you say cold to the touch does it ice up???

Also why did the fans need replacing? did you bork your controld board??

Two solutions......

1) Buy a new controller from phil about £90 and replace that about 10 to 30 mins work

2) See if you need to tune the display in there is a small reastat inside on the controller board that adjusts the contrast on the board you may just need to tune that???

Another quick question when you start the mach does it start as soon as you plug the power onto it or do you have to short the white and blue wires??

nope, doesn't ice up just get's cold and slighty damp.

i don't know what i did with the fans but they just stopped working

can't seem to see the reastat where abouts on the board is it?

and yes, it turns on as soon as i turn the power on.

Right sounds like the board is fookered if your fans dont work either could be due to that??

The fans work now i have changed them, the compressor fires up but the head doesn't frost up and i get naff all on the lcd.

if the head dont frost up thats a leak as for display could be a fookered control board

I've seen my display go blank due to a bad connection. Giv it a wiggle on both ends and see if it comes on. Also worth checking the contrast as fatty said.

Tbh, it looks like it's pointing toward the control board being foobered. Good luck getting it sorted

cheers all, looks like i am going to have to get it repaired if it's got a leak.would it be possible to get it converted to a cilly1 unit along with the repair?
