Black Friday

So as Black Friday approaches and members of society ready their weapons to fight over a £200 rubbish TV in ASDA's...

What are you guys looking to get???

Me personally, i want to venture into 4K, whether its for my living room or PC. I dont watch much TV tbh i cant remember the last time i sat downstairs and just watched a movie, so maybe ill go with a 4K monitor. A few people have said id be better of getting a 21:9 over 4K, but i like real estate.

I don't think Asda are doing it this year?
I could do with a new TV but I also don't watch a great deal of TV.
I may purchase a wireless / Bluetooth speaker for work.

Ooooh good that you mention it! Hope Thomann participates in Black Friday as I've been looking to buy a bass!

OK from some one with experience do know that if you go 4k you are going to need at least one 980ti/Fury X. That's if you want to turn lots of stuff down. If you want 4k gaming as you would do 1080p then in all honesty it's not quite ready yet. Even with two 980tis or two Fury/X you will still have issues keeping 60 FPS with settings on max with any sort of aliasing.

Leave 21:9 well alone. I know a few people with really beautiful screens but most games are not coded to use that res so either refuse to work properly (like Fallout 4) or need plenty of hacks. When it does work it's rather glorious but it suffers from all of the same ills that three screen gaming does from the looks of it. Something I tried and soon got fed up with.

With 4k you would ideally need three times the horsepower of a 980ti/Fury X for it to work properly. Full fat Pascal will go a long ways toward this goal, but as of right now it's still not quite ready.

Personally? I would go 1440p if you haven't already.

Trenitalia "stole" 55 euros from my already not-so-full prepaid card

So probably nothing. I'd like to get a 1 TB SSD for my next build but I guess I'll have to wait...

I don't even have black friday monies, not that I really need anything though, just a 5960X

I must not look on OCUK and buy another graphics card!

Monitors are definitely an alluring prospect right now but still it's hard to convincingly beat a Swift, I know my friends are looking out for them. A Dell UP3216Q would be welcomed, at least being big it somewhat justifies the resolution and efforts of trying to run it without the unconventional annoyance of 21:9. And the price has come down a long way from the original Ultrasharp 32. I do want one, I need one, but I also need a Swift at the same time and my U2515H so maybe that will have to wait.

Can you get tyres on black friday? My fronts are getting rekt. (too much camber)

I hope not the video i saw last year was disgusting, i full on saw a grown man take a swing at a women, over a TV. Its just a disgrace!

I have a 295x2 on 1440p which still holds things down very well, there isnt a game i've come across which i cant max out, i mean on GTA i have to keep silly uber high res shadows off otherwise it goes over my VRAM limit, but thats the only game everything else gets owned pretty much. I mean most of the time im using VSR 3800x1800 i think it is and everything looks breathtaking.

I've read horror stories about both options, but then again i always say its user case specific, i know remember300 runs 4K and every time he sends me a screenshot of Elite or Fallout or Witcher, it persuades me closer to the buy button.

The logical thing to do, would be purchase the monitors from a etailer which allows returns and try them both and see which one fits my uses, i mean 2/3 weeks with each screen should be plenty of time to see which one fits the bill, i love my Dell and its lasted a long time, 2/3 years I think

The 32 Ultrasharp is so much win, but i think i sit too close for a screen that size, i mean you've seen my setup in person so you know what i mean.

I have a tyre guy could give him a call  you can never have too much camber #datcamberlife

Amazon will have the Samsung 850 Evo 2TB SSD as a lighting deal from 9:37am for prime members and at 10:07 for non-prime members. Its price at the moment on their site is £534.83

Not sure how low it can go though
