Hey i'm Andy, looking to buy a new build (£1400) soon after Ivybridge is out and came across this forum, looks good and people seem to be nice and give good advice so why not join, i'm from Barnsley (not the best town) and i'm currently studying Graphic Design at college, and preparing for Uni next year, i've had 2 builds prior to the new one coming up, just can't wait to get my hands on a non-reference 680 and the 3770k.

I look forward to discussing builds/parts and seeing what new rigs people are building, and even thought i've built a computer before i'm always looking for advice and this seemed like a good place to learn.

Thanks, AndyMosh.

Hey Andy, welcome to OC3D

Be sure to post pics of your builds on the forums!

I'll definitely post pics of my new build, been looking at some full tower cases, just figuring out if i want to build a 2011 socket or wait for 1155 IB, as I do a lot of rendering etc. Thanks for the welcome

Welcome to the forums mate. If you do a lot of rendering and such you might as well go for the 3930k. Your budget should suffice, although you may have less to spend on a graphics card depending on how much you spend on the rest of your components.

Thanks, and I wouldn't say it's the most important part seen as I can render stuff at college/uni, i'd rather be able to afford the components I looked at in the first place seen as 2011 processors cost so much as well as the boards. I'll post in the new build section when the new z77 boards and ivybridge cpus are out and see what people reckon to my build.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone

. Yeh, the processors are a bit pricey, but you could always go for the 3820 and a sub £200 board and upgrade to IB-E, once you have a little extra cash. Although, the 3770k will still be a brilliant processor and will still last a considerable amount of time. And as you said you've got uni computers to render you can go for the 3770k and spend more on the other components and have an all round bad ass build.

I really think that's what i'm going to do, just waiting for the z77 boards to come out and be reviewed then I know which one to get when ivy bridge is released, looking at the z77 boards I like the mSATA ssd being attached to some boards, having the OS installed on that and only having to connect a storage drive will make cable management that little bit cleaner.

Yup I agree. It makes cable management that bit easier.
