As topic states

OR

Now I've actually already purchased the first of the two.. as my understanding is specifically for gaming purposes a higher clock on less cores is actually better than a lower clock on more cores. As most games are not optimized to use all cores and will generally run one core at 90% then use additional "child" cores for other tasks such as sound etc.

Now I know the x6 is better for multi tasking and editing etc. I'm referring to specifically for gaming purposes alone.

Just curious if I made the right purchase based on the research I've done.

Yes, you have.

But there's also Intel

Well rumour has it that these are actually the same chips, instead of using the old Deneb architecture AMD use a Thuban with 2 cores disabled, which might be why in reviews people have been able to quite easily break the 4GHz barrier on the newer 4 cores. Which means gaming wise they should be around the same, but the 6 corese/threads of the 1100T could come in handy. Also the reason why the 1100T remains a six core could be higher binning. That or AMD had just completely shut down the Deneb production line. I'm speculating now, but all in all I would go for the hexacore since you pay $20 for 2 extra cores even though when it comes to games, I would expect them to be equal.

Also the hexcore CPUs are better then the pure quad cores due to better overclockablility. So if the rumour about the newer quad cores being disabled 6 cores is false then the 1100T is the better option.

Makes sense. Like I said I obviously already made the purchase, I was just more or less looking for more information to add to what I've already read.
