Best way to OC stock 8800gt

Everytime I have tried either - Artifacts at me like crazy, forgets my overclock or doesnt detect the card. What tool/s should I use and what speeds to expect to at least get to

I used rivatuner and crysis benchmark + 3dmark06 for stability.

I was lucky with mine and it hits 770mhz core lol

Not far from.. On stock cooler you can expect 700 - 730 core, 1800 - 1840 shader and 1000 (2000) - 1050 (2100)..

It varies and also depends on what your using it for.

I could hit 745/1849/1030 with some benching and on aquamark the smoke killed it at 715/1819/1050.

I use Rivatuner and oc to 700/1750/1000, but havnt tried to push it any further yet.

Can bench up to 740 or so with the one I have, it won`t play Crysis for long like that tho with the stock cooler.

Memory ? U can squeaze a very small amount out and bench with it, but this craps out when playing games too easily.

Concentrate on the gpu clock.

I don't like Rivatuner. I always used Coolbits, but it's not too friendly with the newer control panel that comes with the newer drivers.. boooo

I used to use Riva on my old setup that had XP.

Vista x64 doesn't (or didn't at the time) allow the program to autoload at startup and that got a bit annoying.

I use Ntune now. Alot of people dislike it due to not being able to set fan profiles like you can in Riva. I've got the S1 cooler and turbo module on the card now, and it takes about 30 seconds to overclock in Ntune - which is simple and easy.

Load temps get to about 38'C during 2 hours of COD4 play - extremely efficient cooler, but then it should be for the size of it. I was loading out at 93'C with the stock cooler, not good.

Flash the bios to higher voltage, that's what I did with mine, got more mhz...

Well im using Rivatuner atm and 710 core and 1050 memory seems to be my limit atm.

That flashing thingy didnt want to detect my card
