Struggling to get anymore out of my system in pcmark05. If i want to get more than 44K I need to improve web page rendering to 40+, HDD general usage and Virus scan. The latter involves having to invest in at least 3 Acards or possibly getting an LSI 6GB/s 4-port RAID controller to I can use 3 m4 SSDs instead of the two I'm using. Currently using the spare one as the boot drive.

However SAV has a score of 47K with the same SSDs as me except he has the higher write 128GB models - http://3dmark.com/pcm05/3106066 & mine - http://3dmark.com/pcm05/3126905

If I can figure of the web page rendering and match his HDD scores, I could be on for a 48K as the higher CPU speeds I'm running beat the rest of his scores (except memory latency).

Ahh! What to do!

In a similar boat to you Tom,

I to have a pair of c4 64gb ssd's that do not compete with the 9010 acard when setup as raid0 in PcMark05, even worst when I raid with the 4discs,

Irams 1.5gb's, acards 3Gb/s SSDs 6GB/s so SSD should win twice the speed acards and 4 times the speed of irams, its theoretical.

So are SSD's required to win at PcMark05,

Not always its got a lot to do with what is asked of them, whether its lots of tiny bits of information or less files with lots of information in them,

There is no one answer fits all in this senario , select the problem, then select the best setup that will give the best result, What works for you may not work for others, hwbot is a testament for that.

The top 10 scores in Pcmark05 use all 3 devices,

and for those who want higher web pages, ie9 wth advanced cleared, assesabilty checked, font large and set cache to the fastest disc you have (think about that one)

Think I may have figured out the web page rendering. Just installing W7 again and fingers-crossed it works. @ large font - you mean Control Panel\Font\Choose Larger Font? - I did that and it killed my Transparent Windows score.

I have noticed people are using all 3 or at least two of those storage devices but I don't know how to change HDD Partitions on the fly while pcmark05 is running. If I could, I'd let the SSD setup run Virus Scan and Acards on HDD G.Usage.

any idea were i can buy an acard,

RAWZ if i remember right, i saw dave setting one up for pcmark, you dont do it on the fly you change settings in pcmark for were you want each test to run from.

Im sure dave will straiten you out.

just looked on HWbot and we are 39th

nice one guys

Hey, I don't want to make a new topic but I am new to Benching and I was wondering what would be the best benchmarking software for me? I have an i5 760 which I can OC to 4.4 easy and good RAM with low timings. I also have a HD5850. What would be the best for points?

Also congrats on 39th!

Ravious

All of them, the more the better.

3DMark2001 SE

3DMark03

3DMark05

Aquamark

3DMark06

3DMark Vantage

Unigine Heaven (DX11)

pcmark 05/06 depending on the rest of your rig.

Every boint counts

largest font you can get in ie9exploper Tom, will give about3 to4 webpages.

On the fly hd changing, I've heard talk about it but not shure its actually being achieved and used,

I can do on the fly gpu speed changes, easy, use afterburner, as only 2 tests benifit from increased clocks, 3D-pixell shader and 2D Graphics Memory, in fact you can run @8bit no change to scores

Gonna try and dominate with my i5 760. If i run at 1.45V for 5 minutes will it damage my CPU if it is just for a CPU validation at idle?

Your breaking the first rule of benching, don't bench your daily rig, not that i keep to the rules.

You could get your rig outside or use a tumble dryer hose to get some cold air in your case, with that you could push 1.5 to 1.55 for a short time, just keep an eye on the temps.

I would recommend going on HWbot and seeing what sort of volts other people are using on air and water.

Ahh, Might break out the old PC. If I bench on GPU's, do i need a fast CPU aswell?

THanks

Each cpu and gpu has its own category and points awarded so just bench it all.

If your looking for global points then you will need a good 2500k/2600k, this is were you go from benching what you got to becoming an addict, be warned its not cheap and highly addictive.

I would just bench what you got, lurn how to tweek for higher boints and go from their.

Well a 1 core 2Ghz Athlon 64 isn't going to do much. There is cheap cards like this on ebay but I won't get much points due to a bad CPU...

I've somehow currupt the Z77 board lol.. nice. Flashed to a previous BIOS as the new BIOS limited my OC and now doesn't post. All the mobo lights light up when you turn it on and says on but no post. Have to hold the power button down to turn it off. Well and truly borked. Shame that, was about to run PCM05 again with some new tweaks.

No dual bios on that board then,

Does the CD not allow bios reprogram if found faulty or corrupt.

One trick I found when corrupting the bios through pushing to much! was that the memory was corrupt, to take one stick out only, but dont think that will work in your case Tom,
