no matter what i do, my microphone is also 'on'

i can talk into it, even though the micrphone volume is low and even if i disable it, only way to stop it is to unplug

my main concern is that whenever i have music with heavy bass , it echoes

if its on low it shouldnt be on, shouldnt be on in the first place!

also, wheneber windows is loading after the vista bar goes by, there is a pretty loud POP sound. :S

i just lost $100 on this :S

And you've tried going into sound manager and simply muting your input? or re-installing drivers?

iv tried re-installing, but ill try again

vista is so different, i have tried lowering it, but i havent 'muted' it

Right click on sound icon>recording devices>select mic>right click> disable??

have tried that. even though disabled, i can still talk into my mic and hear through the speakers :S

go to playback devices>click on speakers>properties>levels>microphone

Then mute it

btw the "pop" when you boot is a pci slot thing i believe, swap it to a different slot this should go away

i had it with my X-Fi for frigging months, worst one was when i booted and got white noise static for about 2 minutes (this was at 6am so i was asleep )then i got deafened by pain and fear... it was rather horrible.. swapped pci slots never did it after :S strange happenings lol

my current card the x-fi prelude is lovely lol no pops and its great i would have told u to mute the mic but kemp beat me to it lol

if i put it into another slot, will i need to re-install drivers and such?

ill give that a try tomoorw, i just hope it all works out ok. need to find another slot open so my 8800 can fit
