ATI release 8.12 catalyst + display driver

Got it as soon as it was released, must of been within a minute :D.

Doesn't seem any better, infact lowered my FPS in crysis by around 8fps.

I downloaded this yesterday as it supposidly increases the performance of FAH. Can't say I've noticed much difference yet

Seems to have a strange effect with a Sapphire X1950 Pro and more then 3999MB or memory on Vista Ultimate 64bit. With 6 gigs of memory installed and trying to put the 8.12 driver on even on a fresh format the display adapter comes up with Error code 43 and says it's not working.

Now if you use msconfig and limit vista to say 3999MB of memory on the next reboot the driver then works until you disable the setting.

Rather strange driver and have never had this problem before, happens even with all the modded ati drivers out there of this version.

I hope tuesday when my 4870 get's here that I will not have this problem as I am not going to limit myself to 4gigs of memory just for a stupid driver :)

Just the same for me nothing gained nothing lost, great improvement in the the folding though, and the new video converter is nice but not had time to really play about with it yet.

Some people said there is a bug with the video converter that if you do to many videos or something in a row that it starts using cpu instead of gpu.

Hopefully they fix this.

Maybe its time I gave this a whirl then, its just reading the ati forums, these drivers (like a lot of their recent catalyst/drivers) Seem to be getting hammered with complaints.

Many seem to even get BSOD's trying to install the darn thing :(

No such problems here, but ati really need to get to work on their drivers for sure great hardware but the drivers just seem to be a on the poor side.

Hmpf. I have been using the 8.12 drivers for quite a while, and now they bugged out for no reason at all.

While I was writing a review of OC3D, not using any intensive applications my screen just blacked out. Then it came back on with a windows error saying my graphics driver had stopped working and was fixed. Well, it was not since my screen went black again. After a few times of black and error message I finally had a BSOD. Curiously, that was the only thing windows was able to display.

Anyway, I rebooted in safe mode, deleted the driver and then reinstalled. No problems now, but I am seriously ****ed off by this.

with me, i always get an error when installing CCC

therefor, it is not installed and the fanspeed is constant at 50 %

no probs so far here (touch wood) with the 8.12's and vista ult x64.

i'm also running the 8.12 vista drivers in win7

They seemed OK for a 4870 1GB I tested recently - have heard that they don't play nice with Crossfire setups tho.

ATI have released a hotfix for crossfire systems. Specifically 32 and 64bit flavours of vista with 4850 based crossfired setups. I have exactly this - 64bit with 2x 4850, and this hotfix (so far, touch wood etc) All is running smoothly, though have been lazy and havent benched them against 3dmark as yet.

Linky.

The only issue I've had on this driver is after I downloaded the latest FAH GPU2 client. I got the display stopped responding error too so reinstalled the older GPU2 client and everything was fine again.
