ASUS 8800GTS problem

Another thing I meant to ask. If u use the `classic view` of the nVidia preferences thingy - can u see the name of u`r monitor as a selectable option ?

If so, there are settings within the driver set that will allow u to check and configure to the specific monitor u have plugged in.

Like @ home mine says "Dell 2007WP" (or similar) and I can play with a whole world of settings in there just based on my monitor - not the card. For the Dell, this includes the panel buttons :p But there`s a good handful of things u can play with. If anything totally goes black, u leave it for 15 seconds and it`ll revert.

Sounds like a good plan, i'll check that tonight if i get a chance after sticking all the new bits into my rig.

I'm asuming when you say "If u use the `classic view` of the nVidia preferences thingy" you mean in the nview control panel? i'll have a look around and see what i can find. i think i've had a good scout around in most of the nview settings, but will have another look to see if i missed anything.

Just incase anyone was wondering, i got a zalman 9700 LED HS&F and an OCZ RAM Cooler sitting at home ready to fit.

"WAS" having a similar issue with my BFG 8800GTS & Samsung940BW

After a Clean install of XP i found this I tried it and it WORKED

Code:
Here is what i did to get it to work...

1. NVIDIA Control Panel > Display > Manage custom timings.

2. Click both "Treat as HDTV" and "Allow modes not exposed by the display"

3. Click [Create...]

4. Under Custom display mode values:

Horizontal desktop pixels: 1440

Vertical desktop lines: 900

GDI Refresh rate: 60

Bits per pixel: 32

(don't have "Interlaced" checked)

5. Click [Advanced >>] (by the way this is where I didn't go when NVIDIA emailed me)

6. Under "Back-end parameters":

Timing standard: DMT

Desired refresh rate: 60

(the rest of the fields are grayed out)

7. Under "Front-end paramers"

Scaling type: Display (none)

8. Click [Test]

9. Click [OK]

And Presto Chango! No more fuzz.

I hope this works for you all. I was frustrated with my brand new graphics card not working properly..
