AsRock Reliability

Hi, ive been searching for parts for a friends new semi-pro gaming computer. Ive been searching through good deals on motherboards and came across a company called AsRock. Ive heard about them before but never pursued them as a company that I would purchase from. But they offer decent motherboards on the new z77 chipset at reasonable prices and although I may tell him to choose Asus or Gigabyte in the end, im still very interested to know about AsRock as a company as well as their products. If anyone has information on the company could you please explain your experiences with them.

Much appreciated, Matthew

yeah their extreame6* is like 180$ and looks sexy, but I know tom doesnt like their fatl1ty series he thinks they just slap stickers on it with over sized heatsinks but me myself I've contiplated asrock also but Asus is way better

I think they've been a bit of a cheap-skate's brand for many years but are trying to turn themselves around to the higher end market - give them a try, just make sure there is a warranty for exploding caps and other stupid board issues you may encounter.

From what I've been reading they're getting closer to the big three (Asus/MSI/Gigabyte) every time a new chipset gets released.. they used to fly under Asus' wings, but are on their own now. Must say they're doing pretty well! In the Netherlands they're becoming quite popular due to the bang for buck that they offer.

In fact, I'm considering the AsRock Z77 Extreme6 for my next build since its colour scheme matches my build more than the MSI Z77A-GD65's, but I do love MSI boards so I'm not sure yet.

I've just taken my first venture with them on a z77 Fatal1ty (despite, what was it, stickers and large heats sinks!? the spec is top notch) I figured why not after a couple of faulty boards from ASUS.

No issues whatsoever, though its early days. Tom may not like the Fata1ty kit, but the reviews I read gave them big thumbs up. Anyway I love it and thats what counts

I have a p67 extreme4 gen3 mobo from ASRock and all I can say so far is that it is perfect for the 150 USD I paid for it. It has 3way sli/xfire support and room for a soundcard on top. I haven't had a single problem with the board yet haven't done overclocking yet but the bios is pretty nice and easy to navigate. My only complaint is my g400 mouse doesn't work properly axis wise down is left left is down and so on but my other mouses have worked in it. I would say they are reliable and I will agree the Fatal1ty series is a bit gimicky but looks decent (for a red scheme) and do have good spec.

Sounds good from what I have heard so far. Ill check their warranty coverage and probably base my decision off of that.

Thanks
