I've read a review and this is meant to be one of, if not the best aftermarket heatsink out there. Do any of you guys have any real world experience with it?

Have a friend with one on a 6950. Does great. Fairly quite at high speeds.

Remember it dumps warm air into your case. So make sure your moving that air out well enough.

What you plan on dropping that on?

My 6950, its just a bit too noisy sitting on the desk next to me. Did the cooler fit out of the box or did he need to buy an additional set of heatsinks?

On the main page here its says you can buy additional heatsinks. So the VR001 is for the 6950 but I don't know if I would need to buy that as well or if that comes as standard. The documentation seems as bit sketchy....

Pretty expensive for a heatsink, about the same price as a waterblock. But I suppose we don't think twice about buying an aftermarket cooler for the CPU and most of us put up with the stock cooler on the GPU?

Arctic cooling accelero heatsinks have pretty quiet fans and keep the temps down, they are pretty good overall and should work fine.

However also take a look at the Thermalright Shaman:

Make sure if you do replace your gpu cooler to properly clean the vrms and attach the vrm heatsinks, otherwise you can kill your card.

That shaman does look impressive, apart from the vrm heatsinks, and I can't find a Thermalright VRM heatsink for the 6950. I had an hr-03 plus on my old 8800gtx and that worked really well, although the tape for the ram & vrm sinks wasn't great. I'm in the process of moving my system to a case with better airflow, so once I've done that, if the noise and temps are still too high I'll have to bite the bullet and get rid of that stock 6950 cooler.
