Apple to use dedicated chips for OSX

Apple could be using a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Chip to get OSX to run on Macs only, according to some analysts.

It seems apple have donw this to get OSX to be unusable on PC platforms.

The TPM chip is already being used by PC vendors, but has been extremely controversial because of the fact it can be used to enforce digital rights management in hardware. For instance, licenses for digital content like MP3s can be stored in hardware, preventing any distribution - or, arguably, fair use.

By storing some kind of license key in the TPM module, OSX could be restricted to run solely on Macs featuring this chip.

Yeah uhuh. I'm sure those peeps out there who are clever enough to hack this won't do that will they? Noooooo ;)

An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment for this story, saying that the company it is not yet ready to reveal product specifications.

Can't think why!

I think this a a pathetic attempt by Apple to ensure their hardware won't run windows and X86 hardware won't run OSX.

Who willing to bet that OSZ gets Hacked a day or so after the release of the x86 platform? I wouldn't bet against me!

Ah well. Full story Vunet

And a sum-up @ Bit-Tech

they probably have to do this because they will be using x86 Intels in the new systems... damn retarded animal babies!
