Anybody know if the G840 is any good?

Hey guys, I have decided to upgrade to socket 1155, At first i wanted to go for the i3 2120, but I just don't have the money for that, so I had a look at novatech and they had a cracking deal on the Pentium G840 for just 50 quid, I looked up some reviews and benchmarks and it seemed pretty decent, So what im wondering is if anyone here has one or one of the other pentiums and could maybe offer some insight into how it runs in real world situations.

Also how well do you think it would go with a HD 6870?

Core 2 duo e6750

I know its not a massive upgrade but I plan to upgrade to either a 2500k or maybe even ivybrigde when i come into a bit of money, this is really just a temporary upgrade.

I would say it's worth it for a temp upgrade, and it would be fine with a 6870

my brother in-law has just fitted one of these in his parent's PC's

for 50quid it is an amzing bargain. he has it with 8g ram and an SSD and it is lightning quick

tho no graphics card so i can't comment on gaming performance

I was reading a review where they were using it with a 7970 and it seemed to do very well

Stock G840 is equal to a E6750 running at 3.8Ghz, so unless your running at a higher frequency than that i'd say your good

Sounds good, supposedly the G840 can go up to 107 so that would be 3.0ghz
