Yea, i managed to scratch my laptop lcd the other day...its quite an eyesore. Any ideas on how to improve it?

Thanks :(

You might be able to replace the screen plastic with that from a broken LCD, or just replace the whole LCD. What laptop is it? You can often get the LCDs really cheap on eBay.

Otherwise, they are pretty hard to repair.

You should be able to get a screen for an Inspriron fairly easily, because they are very common. Unfortunately, the only way to find out what sort of screen it is is to open the laptop up and look for the model number written on it. That's usually not very difficult.

CD "repair" kits don't fix scratches, they just grind down the entire surface until it's even with the bottom of the scratch. Not a good idea.

There is a fluid that fills in the scratch as to stop the laser from skipping. I dont mean the repair devices that rub them down ...... how would you get a monitor in one of them?

Don't know about the fluid things. You would have to get a very good finish for it to work, might be hard. I'd suggest looking to replace the panel first. At lest if you know you can do that there is no loss in trying other (potentially damaging) repair methods first.

its pretty easy, just buy a lcd from ebay and just opener up and replace it.

when it has that rainbow effect there is nothing you can do other than leave it be or replace the whole screen. in the end a crack like that will eventually spread
