Just wondering if there is anybody on these forums that is into any sort of professional wrestling. WWE, TNA, ROH? There probably isn't but you never know!
I'd rather a discussion thread was on here than an actual wrestling forum because they all just start arguing and slagging each other off, very child like, everybody is grown up here so.
My 85 year old Grandfather is the biggest Wrestling nut you will ever find. He's that bad he still thinks it's real, the amount of docu's he has watched were wrestlers talk openly about there being a game plan to every match, he calls them liars and doesn't like them any more, hell follow someone else.

Lol it is real to an extent, yeah it's "Okay, Bob your going to win this" but I wouldn't fancy getting those moves down on me, hence why some come away with broken bones, dislocations, seperations (Lol sounds like the WWE don't try this at home ad). Even careers ended. It's half-fake, half-real.
You need to get your Grandfather on here then. Hey SuB don't be hating.
basically the guys doing it, just dont have the appeal anymore, they have no real character, hence all the old dudes whom have re-emerged in the last few years.
but pre millennium, wow, best serial action drama there is there was and all there ever will be.

Attitude Era (90's) was the best yeah, every single show was . It's the same matches week in week out now, and yeah a lot of them are boring characters, I don't think it's the athletes faults, it's just the guys writing the storylines and holding people back.
I only started watching Ring of Honor about a month ago, and I'm hooked on that, they just wrestle how they want, awesome. There is even one guy called the Sicilian Physco who just beat the crap out of one guy, running kneed his bird in the face, and the piledrived the other girl on her neck, which was awesome, back when the woman got that every week in WWE in the 90's.
yeah there are no natural heels anymore, is for me the main reason i cant bare to watch it
another problem is i think, there are a few truly global stars, and the rest of them
back from the late 80's early 90's you still now probably could reel off over a hundred names of the guys, now, i doubt id get 20..
for a character based show, the characters are just not upto it.
ring of honour, hmm ill take a look, but modern wwe, pffts. thats another thing, sorry but its freaking WWF, have you seen recently when they replay old stock footage and they have to blur out the old logo, ffs its just rediculous..
i could just rant forever over this, but i wont safe in the knowledge that i have enjoyed it thoroughly. now i just watch top gear. back on sunday woot
id say im a pretty good fan of the old WRASTLEIIIIIIING as the above poster mentioned iv kind of lost interested with modern wrestlers tho but tbh alot of it has to do with passing of my late mother 2 years ago who it would be one of our er "things" to buy a ppv on sky and watch together haha
I am! Although I don't watch as much as I used to. I'm more of a fan of the attitude era. Especially the wcw ecw vs wwf, and also Shane Mcmahon jumping of 50ft scaffold. Oh and the hardcore matches, raven vs rhino was a good one. And Jeff hardy vs Rvd at invasion. Good times
I still watch it every now and again. It's just take your brain out stuff.. (like the expendables). it's fake but it's just a show. Used to go watching British wrestling (big daddy/giant haystacks) at Parr Hall in Warrington.
WOW you all know the old guys but not the new ones.
I watched WWE live five or six years ago, was crap barely remember the show even though Shawn Michaels was in a match! I've seen TNA twice and they do it awesome, first time Hulk Hogan was in a match so was truly awesome to watch him. Just watched the Royal Rumble now, about a week behind.

I watched a few of the matches from the Royal Rumble, but I didn't find it as interesting as I did a few months ago. Seems like there running out of ideas to keep it fresh
Took my little brother to a WWE? event in Manchester last year and it was surprisingly fun, the atmosphere was the same as a football match. Didn't go as a fan and came out kinda surprised
Yeah it's all staged but it's basically panto but people are beating each other in.
Not everyone's cuppa tea, but i respect it as it was fun at the end of the day.

:S id love to be able to string off "great" matchs for todays generation of wrestlers other than cena/punk with the punk leaving with belt story line, i cant think of any that id put in a top 10 sadly.
Tna are soooooooo hit and miss its shocking and tbh very easy to see why they are in such a financial mess, They will put on GREAT matchs with awful story lines that actually take away from the matchs or they have amazing match s that are meaningless, Tna often have "gimick" matchs that end up just being get each guy to do there "spot" and then end the match.
Also my biggest BIGGEST annoyance with tna is how often they have to end a match with some "twist" or "run in" they very rarely ever actually end a match "clean" (by clean i mean no cheating, no 3rd party run in, no ref bump etc)
I could do a massive post on how i think tna is flawed (and its such a shame because they have had some amazing talant)
I thought the Royal Rumble was an 8/10 PPV, I'd heard a lot and even by people like Mick Foley slate it, but all that was going on was the crowd wanted Daniel Bryan, he lost his match so all the chanted through Cena vs. Orton was "Daniel Bryan!" and "YES!" and then they thought he was going to be the last entrant in the Rumble until Rey Mysterio came out and then they'd had enough and went bonkers.
Have you all seen that CM Punk quit last Monday as well? Like for real quit, if you go to something like ewrestlingnews.com and apparently he isn't returning Vince's calls. Lol. Everytime you check WWE on Twitter, or see the comments on an Instagram pic everyone is just saying "We want CM Punk!". Apparently their Facebook page has been hijacked as well, by that I'm guessing they just meant flooded with CM Punk comments and not actually hacked...?
TNA is a good brand, but over the past two years it's gone way down the bog, every week its the same matches, all the characters are real cheesy. Ring of Honor is way the best at the moment, I'd recommend all of you to watch it, it's an hour once a week and you can watch it on rohwrestling.com at first you'll be like errr if you're used to the bright lights, huge arenas of the WWE, but the wrestling is awesome. Piledrived off a ladder through two tables, you got it, woman get in the way, beat the crap out of them? You got it. It's really really awesome.
If anyone knows of AJ Styles of TNA, he's recently gone back wrestling indie but is doing a lot of matches with ROH too, his first one is up now although if you aren't a paid member you can't see that episode until Thursday I think. I chose to pay since I fell in love with it so you get to watch it on a Monday.
Edit: For anyone wondering about Daniel Bryan...just watch this!
Honestly, when I think about it, it's just live stage acting along with some gymnastics or more correctly stunt work. You have characters who have their personas and obviously fight just like they would in a film or on a stage. There's only one take and thus you see a little deviation or improvisation but honestly you have that in films also where actors say a line that wasn't intended and it makes it into the final cut.
Shit all us nerds get wet in between the thighs watching the latest action film staring this or that douche. What I found so amazing watching it in my early teens was how such big men could throw themselves through the air and perform some of these amazing stunts.
