any one use skullcandy headphones?

I'd love a pair of these or the HD595s, so a normal soundcard is not enough to drive these babys?

What about a soundcard and a small portable amp?

oh PCs can power them fine, i was just saying if you wanted to use it on a portable mp3 player

My pc soundcard can work it fine, but I have mine hooked up to a stereo amp so either or reallyt

I am looking to hook a pair of either those two headphones with my XFI Xtreme Music or do you think I would benefit from buying a

Asus Xonar D2 or something better. I play fps games and watch movies and listen to music a lot.

I use an xtreme music for mine (well used to till i got my amp)

My hd555s had to use a stereo jack to 3.5mm converter making it quite a long connection (and quite fat) so it was hard (but doable) to get a mic/digital output in at the same time

Audio Technica ATH-A700/Shure SRH-440.

I have AD700 but they are not too great for much more than gaming.

Thats cool man, I heard about the thick connector, I have a usb desktop mic so I think I'll be ok but as for room for my speakers then maybe I can run it off of a splitter we'll see what happends.

Deffo wanna get a pair of these, have your Senns suffered from the cracking on the headband above the speaker? Things like that only happen If It's dropped a lot right, a good stand will sort that Issue

Oh. Another brand to look into is JVC. The quality is usually great, and the prices VERY inexpensive.

I'm actually looking into getting a pair of these myself to replace my Sony's that I mentioned earlier. (The price of these on Amazon right now is like $21 with shipping included. Almost insane value concerning the specs on them.)

It's either those, or these KOSS earplugs, but I'm leaning more towards the JVCs because they're cheaper and have a wider frequency range.

EDIT: Excuse my slight stupidity here, but I absolutely forgot that you were wanting full sized headphones.

Anyways, just ignore my selections (unless you're not the OP and are interested in great in ear plugs), and still keep JVC in mind, as their over ear headphones follow the same philosophy as mentioned above. Great quality, inexpensive.

They are awesome! Skull Crushers are soooo bassy... good when u listen to dubstep, drum and bass and the latest rnb songs

Indeed, but "bass-y" does not always equal quality. For example, how are the trebles and mids on the headphones? Are they clear and pronounced, or are they overpowered by the bass?

What is the range of frequencies on those headphones? Most typical headphones are usually 20hz - 20khz which is... alright. To compare, my Sonys were 6hz - 23khz, which is a much wider frequency range, which is why they sounded so good. Usually, the wider the frequency range, the better.

The way I see it now, Skullcandy seems like the poor man's Beats. That is, they're made more for style than audio quality.

And as you can probably tell, I'm not a huge fan of them. Mainly because the first time I tried a pair of their earbuds, it set me back $40 and they sounded more like a pair of cheapo $10 earbuds because the treble on them was so damn high. I literally had migraines for the rest of the day because of them. Then I returned them back to the store, got some Koss earbuds for $25, and all was well.

had a quick look over the thred(pissed) roccat kave = win.

BOSE make very good products in my experience tbh.. expensive yes, rip off? un sure. Not for you? probably.

Roccat Kave = win (again)

skullcandys are good value for money but the clarity really isnt up there with the rest of the prosumer category. although the heavy bass is bound to put a smile on your face

i just use some klipsch s4's for walking around and going places. clarity is excellent

I've tried ROCCAT KAVE, the LOGITECH G35 is better. The Kave is a liitle stronger on the multi-directional sound, KAVE has volume controls for each speaker in each ear cup. The KAVE is 5.1 compared to G35's 7.1, that gives a simpler definition between directions. The KAVE's sound is poorer quality and LOGITECH doesn't have sound adjustment options for each direction and has 1 speaker per ear, though with G35's the old driver it loaded buggy sometimes and the directional differences was massive. LOGITECH sets the levels.

The bass on the KAVE i tried is poor, it was brand new.

KAVE = 5.1 surround sound

G35 = 7.1 virtual surrond sound

I havent tried the G35 but a mate has a set and he loves em, the g35's are a near £30 more than the kaves, and I have to admit it has enhanced my gaming experience 10 fold from a mear 2 channels...5.1 in BC2 sounds like you in a movie, the bass is very good when the vibraters are used, a chopper going over head in BC2 and sub on high does sound amazing.

The bass on my headset seems good i dunno if its cos I switched to movie when watching films? have played about abit with the soundcard mixer also to get the sound I want.

The best headset = Sennheiser PC 360 G4me. Period. And that's coming from a G35 user

But ehm guys, I think we're a bit off topic here.
