Anime Thread

Anyone here ever watched Grave of the Fireflies (火垂るの墓 Hotaru no haka) ?

Last things I watched are Spice and Wolf and Sakura Trick.
Sakura Trick is kind of showing how weird Japanese really are, but it's kind of open about homosexuality somewhat, which I have found rare in Japanese media.
Spice and Wolf is a nice story and I can definitely recommend watching it. I'm currently reading the light novels of it.

*Venting*

Is it just me, or has the Naruto manga turned to shit? Maybe it did a long time ago... Now that I think about it. And what's up with the Tokyo Ghoul anime? it's skipping way too much of the manga scenes and even entire chapters.

well the anime ended already so it might be more to promote it

Last things I watched are Ai Mai Mi (20+ 3 minute long episodes), has some great humor and Toradora. I don't know how this happened but I haven't found any other good animes lately so recommendations would be appreciated. Toradora is not bad, the animation is definitely good and the story isn't bad, but it's not a very original story either so don't expect too much. It has a few similarities with Oreimo tho.

i loved tora dora, it idd aint a very original story but i love stories that can happen in the daily life of every one and toradora is one those examples imo ^^ but dude you've been rushing a lot of anime lately didnt you? :D

Latest thing I watched is Golden Time (it's from the same author as Toradora). This one does have an original story and I kinda liked it a lot. Be warned tho, it's a romantic comedy.

I'll go with another list of all Anime I have watched, ordered from first watched, to last watched (roughly, there may be some minor twists):

Legend:
Bold: Extraordinarily good
Bold+Italic: Favourites

  1. Neon Genesis Evangelion

  48. Spice and Wolf
  49. Sakura Trick
  50. Toradora!
  51. Golden Time
  52. Nisekoi
  53. Space Brothers

Edit: Also watched Nisekoi now, currently watching Psycho-Pass and Nana.
Edit2: Finished the Nisekoi Manga so far, it's also not bad, there are definitely some funny situations, but it's not well thought through and in the chapters 100+ it is starting to get out of hand
Edit3: Started watching "Space Brothers". It's not bad, but there are a few flaws. Also I consider Nisekoi one of the better Mangas I've read so far. It does nothing new, it excels at nothing really, but I just really enjoy the characters and their dynamic.
Edit4: Note: The reason High School DxD isn't bold, is because the Anime wasn't that good. The Light Novel series however is outstanding and I highly recommend it, if you can tolerate pubecent humor

I have never seen anime but lots on my PC course watch it, I think I am missing out now, where should I start?

start with the classics

Sci-Fi:
Ghost in the Shell [1992]
Akira [1988]
Neon Genesis Evangelion[Series 1995-1998]

Family:
My Neighbor Totoro [1988]

Drama:
Grave of the Fireflies [1998]

my personal favorite is Lain: Serial Experiments [mini-series 1999] but it's not for everyone

seems like you've watched a lot of the shorter series than real long ones though bleach is about 366. Watching Fate Zero atm, once finished i'll be starting with akame ga kill since a lot of people iknow tell me to watch it,same with Tokyo Ghoul

Just finished watching My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU and The World God Only Knows. The first one was pretty good, the dialog is extremely good for shounen. The second one wasn't entirely bad, I'll still read the manga, but it wasn't very good either. I'll go and get the Youth Romantic Comedy ebooks tho.

Edit: rawanime.tv seems to be quite a good anime hoster. They have all of the recent stuff in 720p and quite a bit of old stuff as well.. I also just finished High School of the Dead, which was quite good.

Edit2: Currently watching Zankyou no Terror

Edit3: Finished High School of the Dead Manga, it's left off kind of in the middle since 2013, I hope it makes its return soon! Also finished Zankyou no Terror Anime. It's a really good one, so I can recommend it.

rawanime.tv - time warner in NYC doesn't recognize this domain - unlisted. hmm. yea, High School of the Dead rules. My wife got pissed at me after watching it together tho - it's definitely a boy's show.

The series kinda ends in the middle in a way too. There is an OVA that continues the story, but never found it online and imagine it's really only available on disc in japan. Bet the manga's cool. On the subject of manga, read the original full Akira a while back - it's dope - adds a whole dimension the feature doesn't go into
