Andre's Z77 Personal Rig

Hi Andre,
Good video regarding the H220. Have looked at them previously (along with the h100). Only question is if they will actually give you better performance than your current air set up with the NH-D14. Not sure it will, but i do like the look.

Running my i2500k at stock here for now - but may bump it up down the road - and look at that H220.

Curious to get your impressions as well about your MSI 7950, as I know you were using a 6950 previously (I currently run one MSI 6950 OC at out of the box settings). Considering waiting to see what the new AMD 8000 and Nvidia 700 series bring to the table - any thoughts?

Hoping to find some time today to go and pick up a few of those cable mounts at Lowes. Then just need to find some time to spend on improving the cable mgmt. and look. Will try to do before and after pics to get your thoughts.

Whats next on your case? Looks like you are close to done. Or?.....

Have a good one.

hey,

as far as performance goes i know that t he h100i is better than the d14 at the higher end overclocks/voltages, and it's clear from that video the the h220 is substantially better than the h100i. but i'm mainly looking for something that is low profile so i can have more space around the cpu just for the sake of aesthetics and for running taller memory etc. i was never really a fan of the h100 or the h100i and i was just sort of waiting for something better to come out, it seems clear to me that this is what i was waiting for. it's more like a pre assembled proper WC loop rather than just a AIO solution like the h100i.

the 6950 was definitely not a bad card, but the 7950 is a huge jump performance wise. my memory could be failing me but i believe a stock 6950 for about 17,000 graphics points in 3dmark vantage and the most i could get out of it with overclocking was 23,000 points. the 7950 on the other hand overclocks massively and you can get 40,000 graphics points in vantage fairly easily.

the 6950 would handle plenty of games on ultra settings with moderate AA settings or AA off at 1080p except for stuff like crysis 2, bf3, metro 2033, and newer stuff like that.

recently though i've been playing games exclusively at 2560x1440 and the 7950 has no trouble at all with any game at ultra with that resolution. the 6950 i had just coudn't handle the higher resolution at all and it was only a 1GB model vs the 3GB on the 7950. far cry 3 for example uses 2.7gb of video memory on ultra with AA turned up.

so no doubt the performance leap is massive between the 6950 and 7950, but the 8000's are so close now i would just wait and get a 8970 or 8950 when they come out if you can live with the 6950 and lower resolutions for a little longer. usually the new cards are out in dec or jan so it can't be long now until a release.

sounds good, looking forward to pictures.

not too much left to do here with this case, but i will have updates if i find anything. i'd like to get the cables around the back a bit nicer but that isn't a huge deal and i dont know how long i will be in this case either.

The inside looks nice and tidy, no cables, no nothing in sight, that is a proper cable management. Even in the back where it shouldn't matter that much the cable management is perfect. With those lights inside this looks pretty much like a jewel.

Dude!

That is some serios cablemanagement! it looks super clean!

This proves that it's posible to do excelent cablemanage without sleeved cables.

looking really good mate... nice cable management!
give yourself a pat on the back. :)

thank you guys. i would like to to be a little neater in the back area but i will just tweak a few things here and there. i'm fairly happy with it though.

Miscellaneous additional pictures part 1

here are some pictures that i took originally for my x58 log but they are still relevant here because i'm still using the stuff in this build.

this is the drive i keep my misc data on, although i have a couple of 3tb drives that will likely replace both this and the 1tb wd drive. (more on this later)

i use this drive for my steam games and it's almost completely full so it will also need to be replaced by a 3tb drive soon.

this is one of the 2 kits of 12gb hyperx memory that i really like. i has this i n this build for about a day in between dual channel kits. my sister is using this in her x58 build now. i still love the color of it and the finish.

my old ssd. it took about a month to fill this up. my sister is using it in her computer now. we got a spare cooler master ssd adapter mount from the guy at the canada computers for free because he had a spare one in a bin of stuff at the time.

Hey Andre , what did you think about the NZXT led kit?
I was looking at them , but I don't know anything about light kits.

Why do you want speakers that size in a seemingly small room?

because i like powerful/clean sound. they sound really good in that room, but i won't necessarily always be in that room either. i agree something smaller would do fine too but i like large speakers and i don't mind the space they take up.

they are good. i found the ones that are strips like the bitfenix stuff the white version is way too bright. the white in the nxzt version is bright too but the led's are spaced out a bit more and there is a dimmer so the result is pretty nice.

Enjoy your coloured sound and too much bass.

That Amp looks like it comes with 2 settings..

Off and..

*pop* there goes your head :)

That sir, is A-LOT of cone'age :)

That the reason I liked the nzxt kit is, it has a on off switch and a dimmer, and the sleeving looks nice too.
By the way , I like your sound system.

This is a thing that I have been using for a while now to store my images. The build quality is extremely good, it is very nice looking and weighs a ton. The only downside is that it has a 40mm fan in the rear that is not auto speed controlled, so it just runs full speed all the time. I currently have it running in the bottom of the shelf I have my computer on, but you can still hear it a bit. The temperatures are so low inside it that I am tempted to go in and disconnect the fan and see how the temps are without it, but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

i agree i have the bitfenix stuff too but i ended up using the nzxt stuff in the end because it just suits my need better.

thanks guys. i don't use the subs for music i only turn them on during films and tv. the classé amp driving the klipsch towers sounds extremely good and crisp.
