I cant believe the amount of hours its taken to get this score, gpu clocks are not imppressive but at this cpu and the card are on the ragged edge!!

yes mate, some of these 4870x2's will run up to 1000mhz on the ram. as you can see mine is bang on its limit for 06 at those clocks she just will not play over 820/930 only thing left for me to try is remove the cooler and resit it with new tim etc, but i have a feeling its at its best, ive had several x2's and some clock nice some dont regardless of what you do, luck of the draw really.

very nice mem clocks there, what happens when you push the gpu clock too?

Core goes to about 840 nicely before getting a little stuttery.

You've got a nice northbridge speed there as well.

whats the max clocks you can run 3d06 thats the key. my card will run a little higher for 03 and 05, but 06 no way, just freezes up... and yes nb speed will give you a bump if you can get a sweet spot in your bios settings.

don't think the 4870X2 sample i recieved will reliably pass 3dm06 even at 820/930

i'm getting into debt and ordering a corsair 850w psu...

been haing a few probs with the sys just shutting down and needing the psu to be cycled before it will power up again, so i'm ordering a decent psu just to rule that out

yeah, it's just powering down under load. then the sys won't turn on again until the psu is turned off and on again.

i've been trying to use an old ocz modxtreme 780w psu (only one i had spare), but it doesn't even have any 8-pin pcie plugs. been using the adapters that came with the X2 card to power it using 2x6-pin pcie plugs and 2x4-pin molex's

at the beginning i was hoping it wouldn't hold back any oc's, but now i'm having doubts

Faster gpu memory on its own does not help the score for 06, I tried the asus tops bios with the card running at 820/1000, score was [22581] very close to my previous best with the standard tri fan bios still cannot get a clean run with the core over 820

with stock tri fan bios at 820/930 I got 22591.....go figure, everything else was exactly the same, no other changes. back to original tri fan bios.

Following scores are with asus tops bios which gave me a greater memory overclock, not core though, mem kick helped in all benchmarks except for 3d06.

please note. I dont reccomend anyone using the asus tops bios, the standard asus top bios did not work for me, im using an edited version of asus top. im saying this bcos I dont want anyone to bork their card, if you card clocks ok, you have no need to try any other bios, mine is a bad clocker hence me trying this bios edit.

Sadly due to unforseen circumstances Tom aka 'themcman' has had to pull out of the compo. So in a mad panic the kit has been sent to me to try and bash out some scores in the last few days!

Im not sure if Ive got the right kit..... expert? Hmmmm cant be a good sign.
