AMD's RX Vega has been compared to a GTX 1080 Ti in a "blind" gaming test

Hahahahaha this is so funny I can't stop laughing, don't get me wrong I am really looking forward to the RX Vega but really AMD really? The best you can come up with is Doom? put it this way get a GTX 1070 and that will also do over 60fps on Doom at 3440x1440.

Can confirm! I own a GTX 1070 (ASUS Strix OC) and I ran DOOM at 70-80fps constantly if I remember rightly...idk might have been higher or lower I dont remember lol. Point is: Over 60fps who cares.

It's a joke. AMD trying to pull off a Jedi mind trick and failing. I mean what do you do when your card is hot and crap and guzzles down power? I know ! you do a blind test study like those a-holes that sell herbal remedies and try and convince people your card is as good as a 1080Ti.

It's like that joke Lee Evans did once..

"You're coming out of the supermarket with two really heavy bags.. You switch hands, they feel lighter ! you've fooled the bags !".

But seriously though.. Vega = AMD's biggest joke ever. It really has been a barrel of laughs right from its inception and the saddest part is that these jokes are not purposely made jokes.

"Let me try to convince you one last time... Here is Doom running on two PCs, spot the difference !!!1oneoneeleven".

Then you bench it and the smell of a bull's crusty chocolate tea towel holder wafts under your nostrils.

This is pathetic. They wouldn't have to resort to this if Vega was even comparable to the 1080. Obviously it's not. The good news is that it will have to be a lot cheaper. So if it's better than 1070 and it's in that price range, it could sell well.

People are still going to go by raw numbers and if what I've seen so far is anything to go by then the 1080 Ti is quit a leap ahead of Vega.

They are trying so hard to market it in 1080Ti territory, though. And that will blow up in their faces. People are not stupid (even though AMD have been treating them as such since Vega's inception).

It's just BS man. That means they are going to charge (or try to) 1080Ti prices. Why else would they continually compare their card losing in Doom?

I've heard a rumour of $780. Now I don't know exactly what card that price applies to, but yeah, a rumbling from afar..

I'm surprised so many here fail to appreciate the questions AMD are raising. I think it's smart. It's by no means without flaws, and I'd prefer it done differently, but if Vega is a product that falls behind a 1080Ti in every, which we all predict it will, AMD is raising the question, so what? Are we as gamers that tied to the numbers that we can't see gaming for what it is, a fun and immersive experience. If Vega delivers that, what's the problem with it being behind the competition?

Again, that is flawed logic and I'd rather they just released a competitive product and compared it in a competitive manner, but it has merits and I'm surprised so few of you are able to grasp that. I think Nvidia have spoiled a lot of you. You're all demanding the competition follow Nvidia when maybe AMD have different plans. If they don't fit in with your plans, that's up to you. For me, I respect what AMD are doing here. I'd respect them a lot more if they just gave us the right card at the right time, but I'm not so stuck in my ways that I can't see past a graph with a bunch of numbers.

The problem isn't that "few of us are able to grasp it" the problem is a GPU needs to be powerful to be able to last more than a few months, It's all well and good getting 100FPS in Doom NOW but what about games in 6 months time, 9 months time ? How low will I have to set the preset to get a playable experience ?

I'm not sure what it is you expect us to grasp. Less performance for more money because they decided to be frivolous? and you want me to accept that why?

It's like you being a car salesman and having a car that is slower than the competition, more expensive, runs hotter and uses more fuel and then getting annoyed because nobody wants to buy it

Perfect analogy ^_^

You completely misunderstood the point. A more accurate analogy would be something like...

Being a car salesman trying to sell a car with a slower, less efficient engine that still gets the driver to where they want to go at the speed they need to go, all at a lower price and with an advanced design that will improve with time. This driver isn't in Germany. They can't drive at 200km/h on the autobahn. They need a car that makes them happy getting from point A to point B. If the car the AMD salesmen is selling is not what they want, they don't buy it. But it could be valuable to someone else. You're claiming that AMD have failed before the product is even released.

Again, I'll reiterate, I don't want a car that simply gets me where I need to go when a competitor's car does it better in almost every way. I'm simply pointing out the value in questioning our perception as consumers.

Cus you don't need the power, as the it can do 100kph as good as the competition. Except as Dice says, in computers the speed limit is constantly raised.
