AMD roumors

I'm not worried about the TDP yet cause I still don't think that's the real number. I just can't see anybody at AMD thinking a 220 watt chip would be something people would want just like I can't believe they're gonna price it at $700 and expect anybody to buy it. I've gotta think these are just speculative numbers and the actual numbers will be a lot more reasonable.

Well the original rumor was that the price was $795, but who knows. Hopefully we'll hear more from AMD at Computex.

Yeah but I just cant imagine why it would be $795. That is just insane. I wonder if wherever the rumor started, it was just some arbitrary number put on some spec sheet somewhere because the actual price and TDP hadnt been determined yet.

Never mind I found it withing seconds looking forward to seeing what they have up there sleaves

Steamroller Die shot seen in the wild (apparently). It's just the module ie. a pair of cores. [Link]

It could very well be fake, but given that the Steamroller based APU's are due in Q4 (earliest is September), and that they demoed Kaveri at Computex they've most certainly got working silicon in-house at this point.

ooooo steamroller :D haha cheers mate i hope we hear more about it soon i am itching to upgrade

same here, lets hope steamroller is as i i good as amd say.
I wouldn't be expecting huge miracles, but if they deliver on the 30% IPC improvement, then you should see single thread performance somewhere around Sandy Bridge maybe even a little better with higher clocks. On the multi-threaded landscape it may even trade blows with the hex core i7s the same way the 8350 does with the 3770k now.

Although even if we see Piledriver +20% or so it'll be a worthy upgrade.

yeah i would be happy with a +20% over piledriver, i really want it soon but at the same time want AMD to take there time an do it justice

if it were 20% better than piledriver i would be more than happy with it as an upgrade.
i plan on updating to a high end steamroller and run it for a number of years, - i see a steamroller octo-core running games well for a very long time and also be able to keep up with any of my computational work for foreseeable future.

Same only problem I see is amd boards are PCI 2 which at some point be a bottle neck :/ I'm hoping some PCI 3 boards come out soon so I can upgrade and not worry.
