im going to be running 3 monitors and i'm not going to be using them for surround gaming. my hardware options are
  1. Asus R9 280X V2 (has 4xDP)
  2. EVGA 1.2a displayport multistream
  3. one hdmi-DP adapter and one DVI-DP adapter
i have displayfusion and i would like each monitor to act as a separate screen.
any other suggestions (as long as they are DP based) would be appreciated.

I trust this is your GPU, link

What do you mean by your monitors are not acting as a separate screens?

I'm an eyefinity user but by no means an expert so I will try my best to help.

that gpu is option 1 though it costs more than the stock IO model and the hub. im saying i dont want everything stretched across the 3 screens but to be 3 separate screens that can interact with each other (something like that, its like the default NVIDIA dual monitor setup)

this is for a planned build, the and its between the two models of Asus R9 280X's (the V1 with standard IO and the V2 which you posted the image of) the V2 doesnt need any adapters or hub which is why its a separate hardware option. the other 2 options are for the V1.

Well as far as the whole act as separate screens which can interact with each other, eyefinity will act in that way by default unless you specifically want it to act as a single screen. so you will have no problems there.

As for your setup/ cable options go all options should work well, though I don't trust the EVGA thing working nicely with AMD GPUs, given they are a Nvidia only manufacturer.

Both ASUS R9 280X GPUs will perform equally well, pretty much (the V1 has +400MHz higher ram speed and a newer Direct-CU cooler version, so is a little better performance wise). The V2 will save cable clutter though and consider pricing differences.

You will have to decide which is more important, cable clutter or marginally better performance and better cooler design.

the evga seems to work the way i would like things to work, but im reviewing the pricing and it seems that most other hubs are more than the price difference between the two cards. im probably going to use the V2 as it will provide the most flexible options and provide only the outputs i want.
