AMD Kaveri

They'll seriously call it Kaveri?

That's the finnish equivalent of "buddy". :p But yes, would indeed be nice if Intel faced some competition for once, been quite lonely at the top ever since i7 launched in 2008.

Hopefully steamroller is as good as they promise.

me too i would update to a 8 core steamroller chip in a heartbeat if it is haha , i really do hope they release an 8 core chip for AM3+ as i wasn't looking good not long ago

Than you guys don't get it, There will be no FX processor. The days of a traditional CPU are over.

go home ballmer your drunk hahaha

Kind of confirms a Steamroller FX chip launch for next year. Doubt they would do both in the same months.
An FX chip is unlikely given that there's no big Steamroller Opterons on their server roadmap for 2014. It's APU only from here on out I'd say, which is not necessarily a problem, given Intel are largely doing the same thing anyway. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

The thing I found interesting was the G1.Sniper FM2+ board from Gigabyte, which is a gaming motherboard orientated towards enthusiasts. Could it be an indicator of better than expected CPU performance, given that there wasn't a gaming FM2 board? One can hope.

I presume that they'll do a version without the onboard gpu much like the Athlon II that you can buy at the moment. Those chips are great for gaming pcs on a budget.

I really hope this means AMD have finally figured it out. I mean, I do rather like the FX chips but in terms of high end chips they simply don't cut the mustard. Not gonna lie though, I highly doubt this chip will outperform a i7 (unless it is in onboard graphics). Who knows, maybe we've finally got a true successor to the x6.

heres to hoping there is an 8 core anyway :beerchug: , i am not going to hold my breath like but you never know eh

That would be a nice chip to have in their lineup. Unlike Intel's latest offerings I'm generally excited about this chip; really could use a low power (but still got grunt) general use/gaming PC. That and the excuse to build another PC
