Hi guys i could finally get the money for my new box.

I still cant decide between a phenom 2 x4 965 or a phenom 2 x6 1090t. Which one would be better....Im a casual gamer and programmer...That will be the main use

Btw any advice for a budget motherboard with oc capabilities? I was thinking about the MSI 870A-G54 AM3 AMD 870...Or maybe an asus...I dont know...I have a nvidia video card, but i wont use sli so i dont mind the crossfire or will it bring conflicts?(sorry total newbie i dont use amd's since my 586).

Hope you can help me out guys...

btw sandy bridge are cheaper but...Still amd is more cheaper...I found a i5 3.3 for 210...Would it be better than any of this amds?

THANKS a lot guys!

The 1090 is pretty much the same as the 965 except it has two additional cores so as long as you have a beefy heatsink the extra heat is nothing to worry about when overclocking and you should just go for the hex core IMO, there's so little money between them

You don't need a hex core for gaming as many games don't take advantage of the extra cores and from what I understand the 955 BE is the pick of the lot when it comes to gaming as it can be pushed just as high as a 975. I know you also said you do some programming but I guess you'd know if you programming to use multiple core there.

The mobo you listed doesn't seem to have all that many reviews/awards listed with it on the MSI website so I'd be tempted to go with something else that has plenty written about it. If it was me then I'd have a quick look at about all the boards for the AM3 socket listed on the MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte sites and see what gets the best awards and then see what price they are and work from that.

Last thing I'd bare in mind is that a 2500K and a decent mobo is about £300 so if at any time your mobo and CPU selection gets close to that then jump from AMD to Intel as the 2500K is getting killer reviews and benchmarks atm over the AMD stuff and at least then you'd be able to use the graphics card you have in SLI if you decided to where the AMD 8xx stuff only supports crossfire.

Edit: Don't know how you feel about spending £90 on a mobo but the 870A Fuzion Power Edition got some great reviews plus the OC3D gold and value award.

Thanks guys for the quick replys!

Well apparently the x6 wont be of any help...Maybe in 3 years...like the quads...we are starting to feel the power of the quads nowdays...

So I was searching a bit more and found this asus:

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO

So it will be a descent build and cheap....I still need ram and a new power supply.

The 2500 is still a bit expensive $220, and I still need a good mobo for it....

I found:

GIGABYTE GA-H55M-UD2H

ASUS P7H55-M PRO

Will it be worth it? I mean between the x4 955 and the 2500...BTW Is there a big difference between x4 955 and 965?

I dont plan to buy another pc in 2 years thats why I dont mind about sli , I know I wont use it. Im just buying this because someone wants to buy my old core2duo e6550...Cant miss that oportunity!

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO Review: http://www.overclock...o_motherboard/7

This is how the 965 performs next to the 2500K:

These are 1156 socket boards. The 2500's are 1155 socket chips. The two are very not compatible

Thanks guys!

Well rigth now intel is out of my budget...And I dont see a big difference between them.

Abou the mobo...Could yoi guys explain me about this asus...What does -Lack of CPU Northbridge Mul mean? Will i be able to oc?

In the end i think i will buy the x4 965 a bit better than the 955.

But i still have to look for a buget mobo (100). Any I thought the asus would make it.Any other suggestions?

Hmmm i've been reading more...

And cant do it against intel...I thought I could build a descent amd for games....but cant find any good gamer review for amd...sandy bridge is just awesome...

So what do you think about the MSI P67A-C43 (B3)?

Thanks again!

The ASUS Crosshair IV Formula is and excellent board with good OC abilities, I would recommend that if, it is in your price range.

"I thought I could build a descent amd for games" ??? I get ~P7000 in 3dmark11 (due to running two cards).

The games that don't seem to like amd cpus include F1 2010 and Starcraft 2. In most cases, it's the GPU that affects average FPS more, though.

Hmmm i have a gtx460 and everything is just as it was with my old 8800gt thats why i thought its time to change cpu.By the eay the same performace was using starcraft 2

I think im goong to buy the 2500k with a msi mobo.Csnt remember which one right now.Or maybe the asus damn...Hard to decide

Thanks

On the ASUS side, the Pro and the Sabertooth are getting very good reviews. People have also been recommending the UD4 from gigabyte. Not seen a great review for equivalent MSI's though. If somebody knows of one though let us know
