AMD 64 CPU Kit Advice

Hi All,

I just got a AMD 64 CPU kit (Thanks Phill) and was suprised to see the back plate is metal! as my INTEL one was plastic!

Is there a danger of shorting? Am guessing not as its part of the kit, but is there extra things recommended to do when installing?

Thanks.

The seal string that holds the backplate to the back of the mobo should stop shorting, but I use a cutout of neoprene and some electric tape to make sure :)

The metal plate also helps folk to check the rear heater is working ok- it warms up enough to tell :)

Sorry to butt in here,i to got my 64 kit from phil :) what do you wire the heater pad up to?

The wire goes to the mach2 heater plug.

And to be safe I cover the backplate with electrical tape and use either seal string or a neoprene gasket - not becuase you need to , more as a precaution.

Cheers

Thx Mav :)

I have some of this stuff left over from soundproofing my old case (akasa vibration absorption matting) will some of that on the back be ok to use?

Cheer`s :D

depends what the matting is made of- there has to be an airtight seal to stop condensation. If its closed-cell neoprene, ya canuse that as part of the seal. If it isnt, I wouldnt risk it
